i was reading in a bb magazine
and something they mentioned giving a try in there made good sense to me
if any of you have tried this and it worked share you experience or if you havent and want to give it a try let me know how it does

well they were talking from a bench pressing standpoint

take your 1rm say 225
do ten one reps sets with 1 minute and half rest between each set
on the next workout that you bench
do the same but with 5-10 less seconds of rest
etc till you work down to doing it without rest and you can get it for ten reps

sounds like an interesting concept, and easy enough to follow for begginers
i think they called for about an 8 week cycle of this

thats one hell of a gain going with 1rm to 10r at you max
i dunno share your thoughts i guess

:)

There's nop way in hell I could do my 1rm 10 times, let alone with only a minute between tries. But the idea seems like a decent one if the starting point was well under 1rm.

If you can do your 1 RM for 10 singles, then it isn't your 1 RM.....and I can't see that program working, although, on paper it sounds nifty.

The closer you are to a beginner and the further away you are from a 1 RM, the better the chance of it working.....but then again, with those two factors taken into account, anything has a chance of working, lol.

Try it, see how it works

If you have any appreciable strength, lifting 100% intensity with that little rest you'll be dead after 2-3 attempts. I would suggest trying it with your 3 RM (for single reps)

This has possibilities but not with your true one rep max. No oncan do their 1rm ten times even over the course of an entire day. I think its a great idea for an experament but you would have to adjust the weight and do, say, 90 or 95% of your one rep max. I have to agree with Biggt though. THis is probably a better idea for a relative begginer like say a highschool athlete. Someone who is still gaining quickly and has not hit a "pace" yet. I may try it just to see though.

LOL, this is why I avoid Bodybuilding magazines. I read once a long time ago about a method called bodyslamming. You would go into the gym for like four days straight and do all the major lifts and then take three days off. What ever. If you are doing squats on monday and deads on tuesday, bench on wed, and overhead/pullups on thursday man you would be spent! The routine if I remember correctly called for a decent ammount of volume also. Oh yeah, there were these two massive bodybuilders in the article wearing sunglasses and skull caps with work boots while lifting. LOL :p

Good answer, and how I would handle it, as well.

thanks for the input
ive been trying it since i posted but no noted progress thus far *hasnt been long though
i can get my 1rm of 235 6 sets like this if i give it around 3 mins lol so yeah you all were right about that

but i have noticed it feeling easier to get the rep up but then again it could be result of previous workouts benifiting me just now still

i can pull off a 2 rep set with this weight now
but it drains my strength so bad that i cant even get one more rep for probably the rest of the day if i do it

so from a standpoint of doing six reps to two
i wonder what is better in the long run
for me to get used to the weight by getting the more reps in by holding back for more sets
or the all out effort the actualy get two straight reps and only being able to do that in the day

please share any opinions
