Insomnia

God I hate this.

I've had insomnia off & on for years, been doing pretty well until recently, now it's 3:11 a.m. and I'm bright-eyed & bushy-tailed.

Hate taking sleep aids, have a helluva time shaking them off when I wake up.

Nothing on the `toob save for hurricane aftermath coverage. My heart goes out to everyone affected, but I've seen enough destruction for a while.

So, it's sit here and surf EF, repeatedly hitting the "refresh" button hoping something interesting/entertaining will show up, or play Bejeweled 2 on yahoo games.

*grabs quarter from his desk, gives it a flip*

EF it is.

funny this thread came up because i cannot get to sleep tonight, and driving me crazy. just took an ambien. i am worried i am starting to abuse it. :(

I fight insomnia on a regular basis myself...have been dealing with it since I was in high school.

I wish there was a prescription version of GHB...everything I've read leads me to believe that it would the safest effective sleep aid out there ( if it were not made in bathtubs ).

What are your high schores on Bejeweled 2?
I don't remember if it was on Bejeweled or Bejeweled II, but I've made it to level 17.

I played some last night (this morning, whichever) and got to level 11, then decided to play Collapse. I gave up after maybe 5 minutes.

Aaaaaaaaaannnnnnnndddddddd here I am back up after only 4 1/2 hrs. sleep. I have a headache.

*siiiigggghhhh*

yeah, the dreams thing is related. When you take Ambien, you dont get as much REM sleep as usual, so when you get off of it, you REM-rebound.

do you have 5mg tabs or 10's???

You can expect to not have normal sleep for around a week to 2 weeks after stopping ambien cold-turkey.

I've had people come in before who have been taking 20mg for years, and still can't sleep. :(

I always take one ambien and 2 benadryl... sometimes with a glass a wine. That will usually get me to sleep for about 4 hours or so.It's the only thing that works for me. Ive been put on everything under the sun.

i hate the insomnia too. i have to take nyquil to get to sleep. this sucks.

I dunno about nightmares or night terrors.

this is getting off topic, but has anyone ever experienced "sleep paralysis?"

i was getting this for a while a few years back after a devastating death in the family. it is when you wake up in the middle of the night, and are unable to move for a few seconds. it does not sound all that bad but can be terrifying being unable to move, even for a short time when you are trying to get up to piss, or turn your body.

i had no idea what it was and read up on sleep disorders in a bookstore. (this was before the internet was around). i was happy to see it is fairly common. fortunately i rarely get this anymore.

I must be fortunate. I can fall asleep anywhere, anytime. I actually LOVE my sleep. I have no problems with it. I nap everyday too. If you can't sleep, train abs for 30 mins. You will sleep then.

Actually, I think part of my problem is the fact that this is a scheduled "off week" from training for me, hence I'm not as physically/mentally tired as usual.

As far as training abs for 30 minutes, that'd probably kill me. I do 5 sets of roman chair sit-ups with a 25 lb plate held to my chest, which leaves me fearing my guts might fall out if I sneeze or cough afterwards.
