Inner Thigh injury - concerned

A little over a week ago - I was on the squat rack afte having done a thorough waarm up starting with cardio on the ellipitical - then straight to the rack 145x10 - 225 x10 275x10 315x10 I went to my max 405 and hit it in the pocket x2 - I rested 3 minutes and attempted the 405 again. on the second time coming up I felt something twitch on the upper inner side of my thigh that was instantly scary and unnerving - not really pain full just a pull...but scary. I paused, and then decided a split sec. later that I needed to continue on the way up t rack the weights. Well - maybe a major mistake - The twing came back fast and I was forced to lower the weights to the safety bars. I got up off the floor slowly - and only found a slight discomfort as I began to take the weights off the bar and replace them The whole thing was really scary and I truly was uncertain about the extent of the injury I had caused. I went home and immediately put some ice on the area...and practically stayed off my feet for two full days.
Fortunately and unfortunately - the injury was real - but It was not dibilitating. It has been over 8 days now...and each day the leg has progressed. I can do weightless squats with little to no discomfort - walking also - but if I move my leg laterally too wide - the discomfort becomes obvious...though again daily this range has improved and the pain and discomfort less. (Oh, by the way - in an area four to five inches from the site of the pain/injury - I have developed a nasty purple bluish bruise that is quite large and clearly away fron the immediate site where I experienced all the discomfort)

Question : Is it likely my assessment is correct that I was very fortunate that I didn't sustain anything too major _ I have continued to work every other body part during this period but I'm now tentative about doing anything that could stress or reinjure the area. Should I stay my course, until all signs of injury are completely gone and then slowly re-establish my leg routines that include squats, should I begin some of that a little early - fearing I could be over protecting the possibility of it happening again...has anyone any personal insight or experience into this type of injury and the subsequent things that have accompanied it - brusing etc. \
Anyone out there with a little/Lot of insight I would really appreciate it. I'm always highly / overly motivated to train - but I don't wish my over zealous nature to get in the way of good judgement.

Thanx.
