Indirect Deadlift Training - RDL or GM?

Well, I was doing the GM work due to an injury from deadlifting. I'm only now just starting again to pull from the floor and to work back up. I do feel stronger, though, and last week made a rack-pull from knee-height of six plates each side which a few months ago would have been inconsiderable.

thinking 'inconceivable' is what you meant.

Well, I could conceive of doing the 6 plates but wouldn't have considered the lift possible. You're probably right, though, since it is a considerable weight and dictionary.com gives this:
In·con·sid·er·a·ble
adj.
Too small or unimportant to merit attention or consideration; trivial.

and that's clearly not what I meant. :)

If I can RDL almost twice what I can GM, what would be better? As per the title, say it's for indirect DL training.

I guess my question is whether increasing GM's from 205 to 225 will transfer over better to a 500 deadlift than going from 405 to 455 on an RDL.
