Just get a heart rate monitor, you'd be surprised with what the subtle movements in water resistance have on your heart rate.

hes saying it doesnt matter what you do as long as you can keep a good heart rate going for a prolonged time.. the benefits of running in a pool might be just more resistance so maybe some muscle growth over time...

so basically if u could rub one out for for 20 min with the same heart rate one has while doing HIIT it would be the same as far as calories burnt..

:)

No it wouldn't. Not even close. Cycling with resistance on your legs and keeping a HR of 130 is NOT the same calories burnt as keeping a 130 HR while whacking it.

Calorie = unit of energy.

It requires a hell of a lot more energy to pump your legs on a cycle than it does to rub one off while maintaing a similar heart rate. You'll burn a lot more calories doing resistance excerices like swimming and cycling than whacking your dong at the same HR.

not if ur suspended in a viscous fluid while having to fight the effects of an enhanced gravity! + the frustration level of not having the right documentation to succeed!

but that only happens once a year :)

Agreed. Too bad tho. With all the whacking it I do, I'd be rippppppppped

hypothetically, If could coule be jacking for 40 minutes, and your heart rate was 130 the entire time, you would use far LESS energy if that same heart rate was maintained while jogging in a pool or riding a bike. The amount of energy expelled through your forearm moving around would be an extreme amount less of energy expelled vs the latter mentioned.

I play the drums for an hour a day, sweating and having a high heart rate. but I only get lean when I use my legs to keep my heart rate up. Because, my arms require much much less energy to move and operate than my legs do to get my heart going the same pace.

It's all about the amount of energy you use, not where you heart rate sits. However, there is an optimal range for your heart to be at while doing cardio to burn the most fat. Too high of a heart rate makes you catabolic (increases cardio stamina much better though).
