Hi, i am a 17 year old high school bball player. I am currently 5'11 and 145 lbs.
My stats are:
BP- max is 185
Squat- max is 265
Vertical 31 inches standing
The problem is, i have been getting stronger for the past couple of months through a 5x5 split, and i am not gaining weight. I eat a lot. I think i just have a high metabolism. I was wondering, if i were to just eat like it was going out of style, would the mass i gain be detrimental to my speed and my vertical.

Hey,

I was in your shoes about a year and a half ago. I'm 17 now. Anyway, too make a long story short. I was 6'3" and 180 lbs... now I'm 6'5" and 240lbs. I wasn't gaining much weight either, so I started eating a meal every 2 hours. My weight shot through the roof. My quickness has slowed a bit, but because I've been doing heavy squats and deads, my vertical only went down about an inch.

If you continue to lift (which I reccomend), stick with squats, deadlifts, SLDL's, and good-mornings (which I forgot untill now :()

Peace.

definitely eat, eat, eat, but also remember what your goals are. if u are a bball player too much mass may not be what you are looking for. eat hard and lift hard, but also stick to some agility, flexibility, and conditioning drills so you won't lose the quickness that helps in bball. good luck.

also, I was like u when I was 17, but now I'm 23 and gain weight much easier from eating, especially "bad" food.

KillahBee and Megad provide some sound advice above... follow thier lead...

I remember the days of eaing mixing bowls of pasta and 1000 calorie shakes...

Remember to focus on the leg work and keep up your agility and you will be fine....
