I've killed a deer once via the carhotzie said:ive got a freezer full of deer and moose
another time I hit one on the interstate
I was cruising along right at 70(I think my license was suspended)
and I noticed a state trooper behind me with his lights on
I'm thinking WTF! I'm not speeding
of course paying more attention to him in my rearview rather than my frontview
and then bam I hit the deer
fractured both his legs on the impact side
fucking pull over same as the state trooper
stricken deer gets up and attempts to hobble away
state trooper draws his gun and puts a bullet in him
fucking deer got up again
this happened 3 times more with the deer continuing to get up and make some progress
he even made it to a patch of woods and I didn't witness the final shot
I was horrified
as it turns out the state trooper had noticed the deer in the median and had fired up his lights to slow traffic
everytime I drive by that section of interstate I think of that deer
and not even 50 yards away I had to recover a dead guy who had flipped his pick-up truck(years later)

a couple of red necks with an actual gun in the gun rack of their pick-up truck pulled over too
they dragged the dead deer out of the woods and asked me what I was going to do with the deer
"I'm keeping it"
phoned my dad and he came out and we loaded up dead deer
which I later had slaughtered and ate
least I could do
