I'm going to start open carrying.

I'm sure plenty of the criminals surveyed had accomplices while they committed their crimes. I would say probably most. That would be my guess.

And irregardless of your apparent expertise on every subject, I'm still pretty goddamn sure 3 guys would rather take their chances with the next guy who doesn't have a gun. And even if the 3 guys were able to take the gun away from the one man, they might have to wrestle it away and damn sure some shots are getting fired if at all possible. So which one of the bad guys wants to be the brave/stupid one to take the chance he's the one that ends up shot and possibly dead? Would that be you if you were one of the bad guys?

nope sorry...that info comes from special forces guys who go out and give seminars to martial arts schools. To "effectively" use a gun there's a buffer zone. Inside that you don't get the gun out of your holster let alone to bear on your assailant. If 3 guys get within 5 ft of you without you knowing they plan on attacking you, you're done. This is not "my" expertise...this is me having sit in on lectures given by self defense experts. That doesn't mean that you can't ever get your gun out but you have to know what you're doing to "create space". All you guys are complete morons who know absolutely nothing about close combat situations. Bassturd you claim your heart rate doesn't even touch 180 in live firefight..I have one marine and 1 Navy Seal who laughed immediately upon hearing that. The SEAL still travels around giving CF seminars, he came a hairs breadth away from going to the finals. This guys is head and shoulders fitness wise above ANYONE at this site, his immediate response was whoever you heard that from has never been in a close range firefight. This guy was part of the SEAL detachment guarding Hamid Karzai which means he's no fucking joke. If he says even the best of shape guys are gonna get their heart rates to a "minimum" of 180 in a live firefight...I beleive him over some dude with "turd" in his name on some random chat board on the internet. FFS you guys are full of shit.

let's be clear, I'm advocating CCW. My opposition to open carry is that in the right area, there are absolutely guys that will target you. Will open carry discourage some little puke from trying to mug you? More than likely, but will it discourage a couple guys who know they can walk up close to you before you know what's up? I don't think so. Plus I just don't want anybody knowing my business. I don't want a potential robber in a restaurant or bank (if you could carry in a bank which you can't obviously) or whatever to know exactly who it is he needs to off first, and he will if you're advertising a BFG in plain site.

Agreed, but do you think this is an exception? Do you honestly think we'd have less gun violence if everyone was packing? I'm actually on the fence with this. Having worked within a a level III trauma facility for so long and seeing so many senseless innocent victims puts me in a conundrum. A lot of the victims could have been spared had they defended themselves more appropriately, yet they would have never occurred if the source of the violence wasn't so readily available. I'm torn bro but sorry to hear about your sister

I've seen a lot of the same thing and it never once made me question the second amendment or anyone's right to bear arms. Much of what you saw was probably caused by guns obtained and owned illegally as well. But I grew up with guns all my life, and we (the kids) all knew about guns and how to use them and how to treat them with respect and not as toys...and all that good stuff, yada, yada.
