I just booked an 8 day vacation with my wife to Cuba. We leave on the 12th.

beautiful beaches
hot sands - beach ball
great resorts
havana is very nice - so I've heard
so many reasons.....everyone who's been there says it's one of the best places to go on vacation apart from the carribbean

In the US, we don't visit or do business with Cuba. Remember to post a travel report for us.

Oh... and have FUN!!!!

I'm sailing off Newport RI this week in the family boat on vacation. We're using it as a hotel while in the slip at the Ida Lewis and we've been to Block Island and Martha's Vineyard on a 3 day sail. Today will be snorkeling off Belmont Beach with my kids. Tomorrow is deep sea fishing with my brother and his kids while the wives do the spa thing. Everyone is loving it. This is the first time the kids have done more than a short day sail.

Good luck finding ice. I don't know what it is about Cuba but everytime I was there you could never find ice, and if you did you would only get like 4-5 ice cubes.

All the canned drinks aren't served cold like they are here.

Americans.......we are so spoiled.

I'm jealous.

Pretty much every weekend in august I'm going to go somewhere for a quick vacay. It's all the consecutive time I can take off, but I'll take it....especially considering who will be with me. Most of it's diving related, but I am also going SKY DIVING, yay!

I demand pictures when you return.

I think you have to tandem with an instructor, but I'm kind of hoping they'll let me go with S. instead. The guy who runs the place is a friend of his and has gone diving with him a bunch so maybe they'll bend the rules a teensy bit for me.

I envy you. always wanted to jumps from a helicopter and bungee etc...but I'm scared shitless of heights

Besides, my wife picked Cuba and she had her heart set on that...plus it's a little more romantic than Texas :p

The bungee makes me more nervous....you get more of the sinking feeling with that. Free fall feels like being neutrally buoyant under water.

So I hear anyway.

I've been twice. You'll love it if you enjoy simple, quiet vacations without any of the typical tourist trap bs. Very nice people, gorgeous scenery.

Are you a US citizen? If so, isn't it illegal to travel to Cuba?

I've never been but Cuba is popular winter desination for Canadians. Especially, French Canadians.
