i'm falling apart :)

about a month ago, i was sitting on the couch late one night, playing my guitar and one of the couch pillows was under the corner of my butt and it was annoying me. . .i reached down and pulled it out to the side and felt a little tweak in my shoulder. . .a couple of days later i developed tendonitis. . .that has since migrated south into my elbow and bicep. . .i'm fucking OLD.

i have/had a wisdom tooth on top, on the left side that doesn't have a mate on the bottom (never formed). . .because it doesn't have a mate, it keeps growing. . .about two weeks ago, it started rubbing against my cheek until it was raw. . .it became difficult for me to eat and i began to slur my speech because i was talking out the other side of my mouth. . .and i lost about 3 pounds that i didn't really have to lose. . .i went to the dentist yesterday, thinking that he would maybe grind it down a little and then we would take care of it after tax season (he's one of my clients for chrissakes) and he yanked it. . .ouch.

about 5 days ago i got a NASTY cold. . .i'm drowning in snot and my nose is flaky and raw from blowing it so much. . .i never get sick during tax season because (imho) i'm very militant about my diet. . .well, because of the tooth thing i haven't been eating right, so now i'm sick.

there are 13 days left in tax season and i am exhausted. . .i'm friggin' OLD. . .45 was much more difficult than 44.

this morning i saw a young man walking down the street with a bad limp. . .upon further inspection, it was obvious that he was missing some part of a leg. . .young man, buzz cut, veteran?? anyway, he looked like he was just out for a walk. . .maybe trying to get used to his new limb. . .it's a BEAUTIFUL morning for a walk, sunny, cool, crisp. . .and he was smiling.

now i feel like a complete fucking moron for wallowing in my tribulations. . .that is all.
 
recently in a airport i saw a fuct up young vet in a wheelchair, face all scared up and dude wasn't walking anytime soon.
i felt guilt and shame
 
And stop making excuses your ass is grass come July 4th.

I heard that. Irrespective of what's happening with you, there's always some other guy that's got it worse but seems to be persevering and with a good attitude. Despite all the shit I have to deal with daily because of Lyme Disease I can still function and I remind myself of the people that actually have ended up in wheelchairs because of it.

I'm liking 45 better than 44 so far. But most of my 30s sucked health wise, I figure I'm overdue.
 
start visiting a massage therapist once a week, and a chiropractor 2-3 times a week. Do this for two months, then you can back off the frequency. Of course go with what your DC recommends over what I said, but I imagine I'll be pretty close.

I started coughing when I was brushing my teeth and somehow managed to fuck up my lower back about 1.5 years ago. Been nagging me on and off ever since. Bullshit!

Every day I do deadlifts I have to stretch for like an hour and it still hurts for a couple days.

i haven't had any back problems for a while *knocks on wood* but the last time i had a back issue, it was as a result of sneezing while i was reaching for a jar of peanut butter. . .bloody, fucking, hell! who hurts their back sneezing?? i mean, if i was a couch-potato, ok. . .but i'm not. . .utter horseshit.
 
i haven't had any back problems for a while *knocks on wood* but the last time i had a back issue, it was as a result of sneezing while i was reaching for a jar of peanut butter. . .bloody, fucking, hell! who hurts their back sneezing?? i mean, if i was a couch-potato, ok. . .but i'm not. . .utter horseshit.
:wavey: You're not alone, hun. I was born with some congenital spinal problems and have been working on DJD since I was a teen. I have put my back (and neck) out doing the following: Tying shoes, looking over my shoulder, standing up from a chair, using the toilet (ah, there's dignity), sleeping -- on my bed, mind you -- vaccuuming, stepping on/off a step/curb wrong, oh, and washing my um, derrier in the shower ...

However, in nearly 15 years I have NEVER, EVER put my back out lifting weights. Go figure.

I have put my back (and neck) out doing the following: Tying shoes, looking over my shoulder, standing up from a chair, using the toilet (ah, there's dignity), sleeping -- on my bed, mind you -- vaccuuming, stepping on/off a step/curb wrong, oh, and washing my um, derrier in the shower ...

Ya i fewl u i complain to myself bout my bumb knee all the time..... Other than that it there always seems to have somthing else with a lil tear, sprain or kink in it... Oh boy cant wait to hit 45 :worried:
 
I've noticed that the more I coddle myself, the worse I feel.

Now, unless I know for a fact I'm injured, it's full-on squats, deadlift, bench, military... no holds barred.

And for maxes or big lift days, I don't play nice the day before either. If I want a glass of wine or to stay up an extra hour the night before, I just do it.

Since everyone here is listing their ailments..... I've missed a month of working out due to a strained groin. First squat session in six weeks and my groin is fried again. Top that off with a case of swine flu/SARS/puddleninja and I'm one miserable fuck :(

Groins are a great example of when you just have to shut it down. I never had a problem till 41. Then pulled/reiniured it for weeks. Then just shut it down for a few months and it healed.

You can reinjure a groin just walking around the house. They suck.

I'm finding this out the hard way. I took a month off from training and around 6 weeks from any lower body work. I did some light squats trying to get back into things and now I'm hurting again. Fucking sucks.

I might just avoid squatting and work around this the best of my ability. If i take any more time off from the gym I'll lose my mind.

I shifted my four day workout (chest/back/shoulders/legs) and eliminated the legs day. Instead, I did a dedicated abs/biceps day and completely ignored my legs.
 
Other than a weak lower back I'm doing pretty good for 45. I've never had any real injuries to speak of. I'm wiped out if I lift two days straight so I alternate lifting with cycling. Even still I stay sore longer than I did even 5 years ago.

unfortunately. . .until after april 15th, i don't even have time to sleep.

Same thing happened to Sammy Sosa and everyone called him a pussy for injuring himself while sneezing.

It's no joke, sneezing and coughing rock your lower back area and shit can happen if the area has been injured before/prone to injury.
