I'm drunk & I'm VERY sad

PICK3

New member
as I discussed before

tomorrow I'm probably gonna have to send an older guy (nearly 60) to the curb

I'm not made of that fabric ... you can make all the pussy & Mo jokes you want, but the situation sickens me

Although he wasn't a good fit in our organization, god bless him

i don't get why people feel bad when they have to fire someone who can't perform their job properly or well enough

you're not paid to have a "story"

i'm sorry pick.
i do understand why you'd feel sad- you have no obligation to keep someone who isn't up to par, but that doesn't mean you can't feel bad for him and his future. Write him a great reference letter, tell him you'll be a great reference.

Seriously.

Shouldn't you be pleased that a more able person will rightfully take their place & subsequent pay check?

I thought you yanks were big on survival of the fittest etc unlike us socialist Europeans.

agreed

I've had to do worse and Meh, all I had to do was think about all the times I got let go from my job even though I was DAMNED GOOD at it and suddenly I didn't feel so bad.

:whatever:

Every single time, when I got fired it was a blessing.

Somebody has to do it right?! It's kinda sad though telling a guy he is not up to par, specially at that age, makes people think they are useless, so I think if you feel for him you are one of the good guys, just try and help him out on every way you can, if that will make you feel better, I know I would. Stilleto's idea seems to be ok.

make it out like you are just the messenger and you are clueless

that's what I would do

if you can

I had to fire a woman that was in her 60's two weeks before christmas (along with 3 others who had to go). She was a nice lady that I liked but she simply would not take direction, thus she was not effective AT ALL and was costing the company money - as in they were paying her for showing up. Sorry, but I've never had a job where I got handed money just because I showed up.

I also had to NEAR shit can a man that was in his 60's several weeks later because, again, he simply refused to take direction. He was like the company mascot but his refusal caused major problems in my department. To make it worse he ran to the company idiot, which bolstered his dissent causing ME MORE PROBLEMS. So I basically told him that either he does it my way or he will force me to fire him.

He decided to try it MY WAY and realized thereafter that MY WAY actually made HIS JOB easier and also made him far more effective.

He then became my bestest bud. :)

Bottom line is that if someone is not a good fit whether it is because they aren't fitting in or are incapable of completing the task they were hired to do effectively, it isn't fair to THAT PERSON to keep them on. They should be free so they can pursue a better situation; one where they will be happier and more productive.

All you gotta do is ask yourself the question, "If this person's pay was coming out of MY POCKET, would I keep them on?"

If the answer is negative then why should you feel badly for letting them go?

Is he coming on here to make a Good Bye thread?
paraphrasing kevin spacey's character in "midnight in the garden of good and evil" : "my staying here pisses off all the right people." :artist:

BM, just how many times have you been fired?

Well I started working when I was 14.

I got fired when I was 22 by Merrill Lynch from a job that I ABSOLUTELY HATED. My one boss was a screaming psycho bitch and the other was a real sweetheart that was sorry to see me go. ALL of my co-workers were nasty, two-faced, back-stabbing, miserable c8nts.

I got fired when I was 38 because my ex started filing motions naming the gym where I worked as having dirty child care facilities with abusive employees. I asked the owners and my superiors for help to stop him because clearly, he was lying. I was one of their top employees but had become a liability because of my ex. So they fired me. :whatever:

I got fired last year for *over-performing* because the president and CEO and his "lap dogs" wanted to spend investor money on strippers, blow, sexually/verbally abuse the female employees. <--- which I was more than happy to share with the United States SEC. :D

Oh yea, and I was laid off (along with several other people in my department when the economy tanked) when I was 25 pregant with my first child, my husband had just left his job to begin our own contracting business. I was not really very happy there because there was nowhere for me to *go* in the company but I stayed because I liked my bosses and most of my co-workers and we NEEDED the health insurance. I was 5 months pregnant and nearly passed out when my boss delivered the news.

And still ^^^ it was one of THE BEST THINGS that ever happened to me. :)

It's one thing to can a normal failure. It's another to can someone that is generally likable, busts their ass, and tries to follow directions but just really sucks no matter how hard they try.

The guy is knowledgeable, just not a good fit in his current position.

Unfortunately, we can't place him into a more suitable position at this time.

He actually relocated from another state for this position.

Can't be a government job...

PS Your MMA picks continue to suck. :)

Who is gonna get fired in the Ultimate Finale? :)

My MMA picks do suck.

I'm knot predicting anything for the Finale. I'm surprised UK competed as well as they did. I thought the US wood dominate.

A little perspective. How many seasons have the best talent been drained for that show in the US...the popularity of MMA in the US means the top athletes have already debuted in various MMA pro events or the show. The UK was able to put up the best of their best, it's a good marketing move by Dana.
