I'm closing on the house this Thursday

Very excited. Im going to begin moving stuff over there Thursday evening and Im renting a trruck for Friday when Ill move all the furniture. QUestion..

Can I call the utility companies NOW? to get my service set up for beginning on Friday or do I have to wait until after the closing? Ive never done this before (bought a place) so someone please help a sistah out..

Yeah, you should be able to. I've done this before. If somebody is living there already, you can swap names on the acct. If it's unoccupied, it's a simple phone call to start up service. At least it was for me.

I`m just wondering if you locked in a rate when you first applied for a mortgage or is it floating until the day of the closing? If it`s the latter, you may be paying a lot more on your monthly payment because the interest rates have risen dramatically since that time.

locked it in, thankfully. although it's not the greatest rate due to the fact that my credit was less than stellar. but it's not like 7% lol
