Is it just cheap, just crap or cheap crap? For an apt, not a home so it doesn't have to be passed down to future generations.

Well, there you have it. It's functional and can the job well for it's price. Will you feel the same way about it a year or more from now? - answers will vary. I think if you stay away from major purchases and use it to fill your room out you'll have better success.

it's pretty damn shitty. there are a few things that are decent, but I'd stay away from large, weight bearing furniture. and it's a CUNT to put together

I bought bed linens. I wouldn't call them silky soft but they look ok.

For apartment livin' I'd recommend it. I bought a $300 couch, which is comfy as hell, and a $70 dollar file/cabinent/desk drawer kinda thing.

Like KB said, the desk drawer thing was a B to put together, but no longer than 45 minutes assembly time. I don't regret buying any of it.

The most shitty part was rolling around a couch from the warehouse to the checkout line. I almost took a few kids out.

Seriously, it's kinda crappy BUT it fills a void and there it's very popular with the college student set, perfect for decorating kids rooms, ect.

The main thing I love from IKEA is their 96 inch window coverings. You're supposed to hem them with some of that ironing tape to make them "custom".

Normally, I get my ideas from Potterybarn.com and then hit up TJ Maxx or Craigslist.

Got a leather couch from them. Last lasted for 3 years now. Still comfy and has held up perfectly.

Is the kitchen on the other side of that breakfast nook?

To the right of the table? Yep. I guess you'd call that that table the dining area.

Fuck, apartments suck. However, when my lady first moved in, it was into my 1 bedroom apt. Now we are in a 2 bedroom, which gives us much more space (and storage off site of our apt.)

Only problem now is all these families living around. The nerve of this woman earlier telling me to turn down the sound when I was watching Full Metal Jacket.

Bitch didn't like hearing about steers and queers. Yeah, lady. I like hearing your shit fucking kids screaming all day, too. Fuck off.

I had more peace and quiet when I lived when college students....

an ex of mine loved their stuff... she thought she looked smart and sophisticated for having foreign crap in her apt. that "SHE" put together. "SHE" meaning me but pawned my work off as her own. I'm still single from being with her and for a good reason

Whiskey

My wife said there stuff was really nice, when I first heard about them and asked how it was because of the prices. Her brother lives out in Washington state where there was one at the time.
Now there are 2 in Mass

Now in talking to people and examining their stuff by eye, I would call it crap that looks good but won't last in the long run.
It serves its purpose and has it's market.

Just seems like a bit of an obstacle course to get there, past the chair and table. Unless there's an alternate route on the other side of the kitchen.

ed norton/brad pitt's character in "fight club" had some choice words about IKEA... :lmao:

As long as you don't have a family, and it get's low to moderate use, stuff from there is suitable and stylish (wow that sounds :rainbow:)

i have a fmaily...but im a nazi...my shit stays clean and spotless or everyone gets there ass kicked

the couch is gonna collapse and your wif will never forgive you!
nah its the 1000 stockholm one...actually has held together really well and the leather is really thick..had ti 2 years now...the bed holds up well to...its been thru almost a year of constant steroid induced rapings and its still holdin strong no wobbles!!!

It's decent. It holds up pretty well too.

Not all of it is cheap. But you can design a solid room or entire house off the basics and add your other stuff to the mix so it doesn't have the "Hey Look It's Page 81 Of The Catalog" type charm to it.

I bought a queen size bed (low platform Japanese style), and a large cubular bookshelf. I have taken apart the bed twice now and reassembled 3 times and it is holding up pretty well still. It has the attached floating nightstands and the screws has since stripped from the bed frame withing the last week. it was easily fixed but goes to show that the furniture is not meant to last for too long of a time especially with constant reassembly.

It is very nice looking furniture but it is all made out of pressed partical wood. This is nice in making the furniture pretty light weight and easy as hell to assemble (whoever said it wasn't is a fucking pussy). Having to pick all of your shit off of the warehouse shelves is a bitch though....and if not carefull can potentially leave the store missing a part.

Some of the stuff is good, and some is crap. Keep an eye out for things that are made of pressboard instead of wood.
I bought this EC a few months ago, I like it a lot.

I've wanted something for a while where you could close the door on the TV. I hate how the TV becomes the focal point in the living room all the time.
So you just bought a large wooden box to become the focal point of the room instead? :) I can see that in a bedroom. I'm not real excited about having to spend a weekend putting something together but if it saves 15-20% I'm all in.

I think it looks way better than a giant boob tube sitting in the living room. Close that mofo up and crack a book. :D

Some of the stuff is a pain in the ass to put together. I think that took about 3 hours. Just clear out a big ass piece of floor, get all the parts out and organized and go to town. Having your own tools and not using the crappy supplied ones helps too.

Lol all weekend putting together dialtone? Ahhaha directions are included. Takes only a few minutes

I spent over 4gs' on a bunch of that crap and pretty much gave it all to my neighbor"To hold"Before i went to rehab guess who got 4gs of ikea shit for free?
