Dballer -- FYI -- I dont work for the state of Texas. I am a contractor working for TDCJ. Have you always felt this way about the death penalty? Probably not. Most people are indifferent until someone they know is murdered brutally or someone they know is sentenced to die. If your friend truly is innocent, you have my sympathy. BUT, to rate the efficacy of death penalty programs across the state based on your limited exposure is wrong! I now realize my words from yesterday sound harsh and cold. And wish I has spent a lil more time before submitting, but I do not back off of my pro-death penalty stance. I do, however, believe, the people of Texas should be given a 3rd alternative in capital punishment cases - live in prison with no chance of parole. At the current time, this is not an option for juries in Texas. We either sentence to death or give them life in prison (with an opportunity for parole)

SouthBeachDreams - How am I a dumbass. Because I strongly support the death penalty? Because I see the trash that is here daily picking up newly released inmates? If you disagree, I welcome you to come spend a week in Huntsville so that you may make up your own mind.
WeeMan - the average prison gurad's salary is around $20k in Texas. I make over $200k. Dont think I will be swapping jobs anytime soon. where in my post did I mention anything about county jails? Your failure to pay a speeding ticket sent you to the bighouse? I too have been in a county jail! BUT, it is nothing like the real thing. And as far as your erronoeous conclusion regarding the reason most people are in jail, well, it is quite simply wrong! The reason jail populations across the nation have soared is due to the failed drig policies implemented in the '80s and '90s. I do not believe drug addicts (who have not commited any other crimes) should be sent to prison. The only thing we accomplish by sending them to prison is the guarantee that they will be back in prison shortly. And finally, you may want to check your spelling the next time you make a lame attempt at "Sarcasism."
