If you don't believe Jesus Christ was/is God...

Personally,
I believe in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, manifested in flesh to die for the sins of the world of mankind.

I'm no perfect christian, I don't judge others regardless of their doctrines or religion.
Here is something I heard that makes sense to me and helped me understand things for those that do and do not believe: Jesus is a gentleman knocking at your door. If you open, he will enter. If you don't, he is a gentleman and go to the next door.
THAT in itself is respectable and simple.:)

I believe in Jesus, yet I don't believe that everyone who has not heard of him will die and burn in hell. I just don't believe that.

I also think as billfred that this is great and a lot of christians don't feel the same. Most (perhaps all?) christian churches teach that Jesus is the only way. No Jesus, no salvation, no heaven.

That's a pretty harsh god. Not the loving god that christianity preaches IMO.

So (and this is directed to anyone - open for all) what if you have heard of him, but don't believe he is god? What happens then?

I enjoy reading this, it does make me kinda sad people invest so much time and thought in trying to understand something abstract and unexplainable.

Must... resist urge... to troll for science...

But I pretty much agree with Nimbus, except the part of most christians being good people. And by "good", I'm judging them by the rules of their own religion. Which circles back to exactly why I agree with Nimbus's poast.

Whoever accused Nimbus of trolling obviously hasn't been outside of internet sewing and crochet forums. (Hint: saying something about your abstract belief that you don't agree with isn't trolling.)

The main thing I could never wrap my head around was why one religion or mythology is the only right one. There've been thousands of various religions, gods, and mythos in the past few thousand years. Seems like picking a god is like randomly picking a stock and hoping it brings you eternal riches. Why can't religions come together and unify their beliefs instead of being all intolerant of each other and stuff?

I think the whole book still provides good stories and great moral direction and foundation. No one would be at a loss of anything for spending time reading the bible. You can only gain from it IMO.

Oh, well I've already read it and if I can't trust it then I've read enough ;)

I could post scripture to support me but I see no point.

I answered this in the other thread :) I don't know what happens. Possibly we are both wrong. Maybe we are both right, maybe there is nothing. It is what it is. I still  u

I find it strange that some believers I have met pretty much bully me into being a believer and kinda threaten me that if I dont believe I'm damned and am going to hell, if I dont believe in God WTF would I believe in/fear hell? that's like telling me:
You dont believe in the tooth fairy? Oh Oh Santa's not gonna bring you any presents then!

I can assure you I've been to other forums besides Sewing with Nancy. I suggested it was a troll because he implied christians were stupid, and I honestly thought he was trying to bait Cindylou. Substitute Muslims in Nimbus' post and the thread would have been closed. I've never disclosed anything about my personal beliefs for Nimbus to respond to directly, so why would I be offended by him? Frankly, I don't care what anyone believes, it's not my business.
