I still keep the light on out in the living room, I figure with an alarm system plus lights on in the house I won't have to worry about the gun
Why chance it though

I'd love to see statistics on how many people actually own guns for self protection, have been in the position where they had to use them, and actually DID use them.
Why chance it though

I don't know if what I'm going to say is going to make you angry, feel better, worse or more confused, but I'm going to try to explain things as I (very incompletely) understand them. Try thinking of it this way: God cares about you the way you care about one single cell in your body. Do NOT get hung up on that piece of information, though. Remember that Christ compared the kingdom of heaven to a mustard seed? Humans have to get beyond the concept that the universe is bound by the rules of OUR plane. Size DOESN'T matter. So that one cell of your body is precious, just like that single mustard seed.
"God" doesn't NEED to care about you because you are a part of "God" (just like you don't care about any cell in your body, really). Actually, the part of you that is Divine is in constant contact with that which is the Creative force of the Universe. Eventually we evolve the point of achieving constant awareness of "the All" to see the connections and then there is a whole other level of information available to us and we move closer to reuniting with that force (that's where beings like Christ and the Buddha were moving to).
HOWEVER, we're talking about, for lack of a better word, "Big G God" which is such an inadequate word. There really is no word/name for the source that is the Universe that created the Universe. I think of it as the Tao.
There is also "Little G God" which Yahweh falls into (the God of the Old Testament, the tribal god of the Jewish people). He is there, accessible, just like the other gods he was so jealous of are also there. His myths have become woven into Christianity, which was brought to us by Christ, who was an evolved being that tried to teach us how to move along the path of spiritual evolution, but his message is/was contorted because it was being heard by people who had been fed on the myths and legends of Yahweh.
Christ is absolutely accessible to you and wants nothing more for humanity than for us to get his message, but Christ is not A God or even THE GOD (however, try googling "the Christ Consciousness"). Remember, he said to his disciples they could do everything he could and more? (I can't find the exact quote). It's like that.
Frankly, the idea of dying then sitting around for the rest of eternity strumming a harp and singing the praises of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost seems incredibly depressing, to me. The idea that my soul's purpose is to learn, grow and evolve seems a little more useful.

how long u gonna keep this routine up for? anyways thats pretty scary! not sure what i would have done had i walked in on them.
lol.... forever? What's wrong w/ it? I'm not sure what else I can do besides move. I wasn't feeling well so I took an early lunch, it was around 10 am or so...I walked in, I noticed the door to the garage was open and a piece of paper on the floor..I thought that was strange, I would not have walked past that paper on the floor and not picked it up.. I just knew something was wrong..so I kinda crept inside just far enough to see..I saw what was happening..and I turned around walked out of the house, got in my car and drove around the house down the street dialing 911..I was shaking the entire time. lol its hilarious that I got in my car but it seemed the quickest way to get away..
That part of you which is divine is not your mind, it is not your body, it exists outside of the material, beyond time and space.[/SIZE]
But how can it? I just cant see reincarnation as something that will allow u to grow and evolve anything. I have no memory of my birth and i cannot really imagine my death. So im guessing ill go the same way i came, without any recollection of the event. Yet when my physical body dies, my brain dies which means Personality/identity/experience or memory dies as well. I have no recollection a past life, nor will i have of this one. To me this self improvement/growth is attained by experience. Those experience lead to knowledge, you use that knowledge for wisdom, see the bigger picture and ultimately develop a higher level of awareness/consciousness thus self-evolvment. when u die all ur hard work to get to that point is gone. no? How does the continuation occur? a link?
and is your soul your mind? If god is part of us, that is the only way i can see him/her/it existing in me. I do believe the mind and brain are separate but definitely linked and thus we are able to feel a certain level of awareness, god, ect sometimes. a damaged brain damages the mind connect, a dead brain cuts off all contact so it seems. So u have to start from scratch again in ur next life time, never really evolving too much.
according to my above reasoning, as as time goes by, the more enlightened one should be. TBH, I really haven't gleaned any new profound piece of wisdom from modern people. Its all been said by dudes hundreds of yrs ago. just not the work of progressively enlighten souls.

There is a book called "The Field" by Lynn McTaggart (sp?) explains things much better.
Remember something, Ebony, an atom is like 99.9999999% nothing. If everything is made of atoms, then everything is more than 99% nothing.
I have had brushes with my past lives (well, just one clearly, once) I know people who are "older" spiritually than myself (who are not nutjobs, some of the most stable, together people I know, in fact) who are very familiar with their past lives and think back on those experiences as you think back on your childhood. It just takes time. America is full of "young souls. Look at some of the Eastern beliefs, particularly the process of how they select the Dali Lama.
