If you could have any singers voice..who would it be?

For me it wouldn't be a screamer like most the bands I was brought up with (Rob Halford, Ronnie Dio, Bruce Dickenson,Geoff tate) I would have to say it would be Paul Rodgers of Bad Company. The guy can sing rock...soul...Blues.....You name it. My second choice would be Glenn Hughes. Same thing..He can sing heavy Rock..Blues and has an incredible soul voice. For those of you who don't know his voice Think of the old Deep purple song "Burn" who he shares vocals with David Coverdale. Who would you choose?

James Hetfield from Metallica.

James shows an incredible range of singing styles if you listen to Metallica's first album, Kill 'em All...and then listen to some of his later stuff on Garage Inc., for instance.

It doesn't even sound like the same person. He can sing the speed metal stuff in a quicker, lighter tone (i.e. Kill the Lights), he can sing the heavy, harsher, slower stuff (i.e. Sad But True, Harvester of Sorrow) and he also can do the lighter, softer stuff (i.e. One, Unforgiven II, Tuesday's Gone).

I've always thought Hetfield was underated vocalist...he's much more than a heavy metal singer.

My thoughts of him being just a good thrash singer totally changed once I heard "Nothing else matters". I couldn't believe he could sing that mellow and still be so good.

if i was a guuy, i would have listed almost those exact singers
when i read the thread title, my frist thought ws CANNIBAL CORPSE

lol
doesnt do me much good as a female though
the only female i know that growls is that chick in Walls of Jericho
if u know any others, let me know plz~!!

Without a doubt... Milli Vanilli. Beautiful voices, both of them. Whatever happened to them anyway?

Seriously, I would say Maynard James Keenan of Tool. His voice and his creativity. Or the lead singer of Earshot, though he only has the same voice, and no originality.

Geoff Tate, or James Hetfield

I dont think I would want this guys voice, but I think that he was a damn good singer, dont know his name but he was in the band Steel Heart, anybody remember them?

Steelheart..Yup..Been along time since I have heard em but I remember I liked it. Geoff Tate has a solo album comin out tomarrow for your information.

Don't know much about them just new the singer was a screamer. I personally really liked the band Drain Sth. To bad they broke up. I really like those girls.

Tony Martin~ sang on several Sabbath albums~incredibly powerful voice with excellent range.

Freddy Mercury

Celine Dion

Tony Martin..Yup incredible voice. I have all his stuff with Sabbath and he also has a few CD's with a band called "The Cage". I think my favs with him in Sabbath were "The headless Cross" and "Tyr" although all of em were good.

You're the other guy that bought the albums! :p

All the Sabbath fans I know consider it blasphemy to hear Tony Martin sing with Sabbath, but he's my personal fav.

I haven't heard "The Cage", but just found out about it a short while ago.

Headless Cross is a GREAT album! One of the best Sabbath album IMO.

Yup ..I'm the other guy.....He even has a solo album out I have which has a different version of Jerusalem on it. I never cared what anyone said about Sabbath with other singers cuz I just wanted to here Iommi play no matter who sung. Glenn Hughes sang on a Sabbath album also (Seventh Star) and at the top of this thread I state that he is one of 2 voices I wish I had. The Cage is actually a prodject of Dario Mollo (an Itallion guitarist) who sounds like a cross between Iommi and Blackmore. Dario Mollo's other prodject is called" Voodoo Hill" which again has Glenn Hughes singing at the helm. It's kind of funny that both singers have each fronted both of the same Guitarists.

I´d want to be a mix of Jorn Lande (ex Yngwie Malmsteen, Millenium) and D.C Cooper (ex Royal Hunt).

If I only had one choice it would be Doogie White.

Tough choice for just one.....

I have several in mind:

Sade- Sexy/soulful singing voice!
Pat Penatar- She can belt 'em out
Joan Jett- Sexy voice
Bonnie Raitt- Can sing the blues with ease
Patti Labelle- What a VOICE!

I could go on and on....

Interesting question.....

I guess from a 'vocal range' perspective I would say MJK from TOOL. He can really move his voice around the scale.

I guess my other votes would have to go to either Frank Sinatra or Barry White. Simply because their voices are so distinctive.

Keith Caputo, who used to sing for Life Of Agony when they were still good. He had great range and expression. I also wouldn't mind being able to sing like Chris from Propagandhi, who's got the best punk voice IMO.

Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day obviously, actually I kinda sound like him, when I try to. Yes, I know he sings with a fake british accent, but his voice has that raw appeal that I like, plus he sings with such passion. Lots of people have better voices than him, but some don't have any emotion, cause they aren't singing their own songs, they are doing songs, written by professional writers.

James Labrie- Dream Theater (excellent range)
Geddy Lee- Rush (just to be different)
Glen Hughes is fantastic- "ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the Las Angel-eeees Cutoff!!!"

Joe Elliot- Def leppard ( best ballad voice)
Sully from Godsmack - Great aggression
Singer from System of a Down- Very unique voice. Not the usualy Creed-Pearl Jam ripoff..

Dread..What about the group "Kittie"?

I covered a few of their songs (from their first albulm) for my Xs band back on the east coast. I could actually match it pretty good. I grew up doing more operatic stuff, but learned to scream really well in the marines. :) I wish I could sing more like Tina Root from switchblade symphony though. Her voice is amazing.

i have seen them live actually, with the female singer
that was pretty impressive. i was glad to know that she is pretty highly regarded in the metal community as well.
i can honestly say i like her better than the original vocalist

Hmm. I can allready do a Danzig voice to a T, I can do that Chris Barnes shitty growl, Glen Benton style growl, and that guy from Immortal, can rattle my vox like him. I would say Dio, since it's hard for me to get that rough with melodies sound.

Bruce Dickinson - Iron Maiden
Matt Barlow - (ex) Iced Earth

Definitely check out Arch Enemy - Wages of Sin. I think there is new one out this week. Plus, she is hot.

I'd like to sing like Jarbo from the Swans. =) Well maybe not. However, I can do a pretty good Peter Steele impersonation. (type O negative)

I suppose that I would really like to have a cross between Tom Jones and Ronnie Dio. Although, if I could only choose one, I would have to stick with Tom. Yep...

King Diamond............J/k. I like Don Dokken, Ray Gillian,Michael Sweet,Geof Tate,Rob Halford,Mark Slaughter,......man there are so fvckin many. It kinda seems like I have a thing for 80's singer huh.

King Diamond...That dude's got some serious mutha phackin' range!
"Riding up the alley in the rain, No lights to show the WaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAYY

Aw man!, Dude just cracked my monitor...sheeet....

I like my share of modern music, but there is a lot of 80's music that will forever share a place in my heart...

Tarzan...

I'm really outa the loop here, I've never heard of any of these folks except Dio, Steve Perry, Sinatra & Elvis. LOL

Showing my generational experience again.

Right now I'm kinda in awe of Donnie McClurkin (Black Gospel Guy) Fantastic range & pipes!

Did you see Arch Enemy with Nile, Origin and Hate Eternal by any chance? Saw that show in L.A. badass to say the least.

For vocal range I would go with....LORD WORM formally with Cryptopsy- crazy screams.

I'd have to go with Freddy Mercury from Queen. " The show must go on" I heard that song ( vocals only ) before watching Twisted Sister open up for Ratt at the Hollywood Sport in Hollywood, Fl. and that voice just blew me away.
