If first shot was an infection, would you shoot again?

I have two infections out of 6 cycles. I was using the same brand name of gear. Since I know that the most probable reason for the infection was due to some extraordinary circumstance, I will not tell the name of the gear. Anyway...Just to be on the safe side...I baked the gear twice and used it anyway and did NOT have any more problems from the vials or from neglegance.

Problem is let's say the gear is only slightly contaminated. Like just barely enough to result in an infection. It's possible that your body will fight off the nasties in the next shot, then three shots later, after the antibiotics wear off, you're back where you started.

Just saying, just cos the next shot doesn't result in an infection, doesn't rule out that the gear is contaminated.

Yea thats why I didnt want to mention the name of the gear in my thread because I didnt want to give it a bad rep if it was just some bad luck. Any suggestions on how to bake test?

I do not understand what xonstitutes "slightly contaminated". Are we talking something like maybe 4 or 5 germs or bacteria in the vial or what. Either way, if there are 3 bacteria then there are a million. They will either multiply or die out right. A virus can stay living in an inactive state for a long time but not bacteria. So again, if it is "slightly contaminated" then it is fully contaminated, there is not a difference.

But either way, I would assume you are correct in saying that antibiotic could keep it under control for a while, but it could flare up later.

how long do you bake it for?

I have always baked at 225 for 20 minutes...then let cool and do it again.

Remember, while baking, always insert a pin (without syringe) in the rubber but do NOT submerged the end of the pin in the oil.

You can bake test at 250 to 300 for 45 minutes to an hour.

I don't believe that the material in a steroid vial is particulaly friendly to bacteria multiplying. They are probably in a dormant state. Otherwise the vial woudl get cloudy very fast. We're not talking about a petri dish here.
