Iced Tea vs Water

So is there any reason I can't drink iced tea as well as water during the day?

Do the caffeine and diuretic properties really make a difference?

I read *somewhere* that things like tea/coffee really don't make a huge diuretic effect on the body. Something like 20% of the water is not absorbed. But who knows where I read this.

I'd say iced tea is better than NOTHING. But I would still try to drink more plain water. :)

As long as it is not iced-tea-full-of-sugar-from-a-can go for it

Tea is diuretic but since you drink plenty of water (in this iced tea) it does not really matters

are you guys serious?

so we're dropping the whole caffeine dehyrdrates you --> drink extra water to make up for each caffeinated drink you consume thing?

did we just decide it isn't truE? lol

Crystal Light makes an iced tea flavor.....just watch the mix for iced tea if you buy that stuff as it can have sugar in it.....

Simple Solution:

INGREDIENTS

6 green tea teabags
6 cups cold water
2 ripe peaches, pitted and sliced

1. Place teabags in a large teapot or pitcher.

2. Put sliced peaches in a saucepan, add cold water, and bring to a brisk boil, then pour water and peaches over teabags.

3. Steep for 6 minutes, then add sweetener (maple syrup, honey or Succanat are recommended). Allow tea to cool, then refrigerate until thoroughly chilled.

4. Include a few peach slices in each glass and serve with a spoon, garnished with a sprig of mint, if you like.

Even Easier Alternative Method: Make a pitcher of green tea and add the contents of a can of organic sliced peaches. Chill thoroughly.

Makes 6 servings.

Good Post, I drink about 12+cups of iced tea a day sweetened with Splenda and then bottled "Real Lime" for taste.

i put tea bags instead of coffee into the coffee maker, Three bags for twelve cups of water.
Then i put about 3L of ice into the jug, then like 3/4 a cup of splenda, some real lime to taste, the pour in the tea, mix it up. Done for the day.

I drink about 3 qts of plain water, 1-3 qts of water with crystal light, and about 1-2 small cups of plain tea!!! I have always wonder how bad iced tea is, good to know that its not that bad!

oh yea I also might drink about 8-12 oz of gatorade at lunch on occasion, if I am feeling drained from the heat!
