i am getting so fucking sick of this whole pop-punk scene and every dumb fuck girl who likes it.

you like goodbye charlotte? fuck you. you think sum41 is 'like, totally awesome'? get aids. the used and blink182 are the best bands ever? kill yourself.

i swear to god, i would take listening to 100+ hours of non-stop boy bands than have to listen to one more fucking song by any of these no-talent hacks.
 
for me its the ''gangsta'' culture spilling over into everyday life

yeah, they make good music sometimes. but now u have 12 yr olds acting like fucking morons and never growing out of it. i barely understand a word these guys (and girls) say to each other, the manners they show in public are reprehensible at best and their respect of anything other than themselves, their clothes and the other gang members defies belief

what the fuck is the point of holding a concert condeming gang on gang violence and friends crying when a brother is willing to defend a gang which shot his sister by accident?

to be honest i never had a problem with the avrils and fred dursts mainly because i dont see em that often and they keep themselves to themselves
 
I love lots of hip hop but I do think the influence on our society has degraded it big time. I remember when it was cool to be a white kid. Not anymore, as long as your anything BUT a white kid your cool.

As for pop-punk, I FUCKING HATE THAT SHIT!!! At least you dont live here in San Diego- the pop punk capital. It is so fucking gay, I see like 10 guys a day with crooked hats,super low baggy pants with their boxers puffed out and a red hurly shirt. Dont forget the obligatory "punk" belt. I don't worship them, or even really "like" their music.. I just don't hate it.. I listen to it.. along with death metal, real punk, ect..

anyone ever heard of Dashboard Confessionals? man.. I admire their style, even though its depressing.

That's what I'm saying- Kelly is doing pop crap because its what is selling which goes against pretty much everything her dad stands for musically. Of course, the whole Osbourne's thing has become insane in and of itself. Very few of the Osbourne's viewers really listen to Sabbath or Ozzy anyway, they watch it to see how fucked up their family is. That is fine too but too see Kelly try to sing is wretched. Everyone is so busy kissing her ass that they all forgot to tell her she sucks. At least Jack likes good bands- System of a Down, Faith No More,Helmet. He knows what's up as far as the music. Kelly will end up in the management side like her mom, just watch.

I dont know how you can like rock and not like any hip hop. There is some bad ass hip hop out there- its not all stupid shit. I used to know some skinheads that listened to hip hop. Odd right? Yeah, my thing is that the kids that are into pop music and pop-punk are missing out on what I would call "real" music. There is a whole world of music out there besides what MTV is shoving down your throat. Throw on a Massive Attack CD and see if you like it. Try some Deftones. I just dont have much tolerance for fake aggression and BS emotion. When you hear Chino from Deftones sing you can tell its not a bunch of made up BS- its from the heart. Cant say that for pop-punk. Its all an image to sell clothes,CD's,makeup,magazines,shoes,hair dye- whatever they can sell you.

well, allow me to paint a picture for you describing the pop-punk scene.

i want you to picture a bunch of angry, obnoxious, 15 year old losers who hate and bitch about pretty much everything and think they are on a different level than everyone else. picture a bunch of misguided, pretentious, ignorant 15 year old boys with chain wallets, colored hair, mohawks, and piercings all over their fucking face. now picture these kids forming a band, even though they only have around 6 months of experience with their musical instruments. now picture them singing songs about how bad society is, being anarchists, and breaking up with their girlfriend all in the same song.

as if that wasnt bad enough, the music videos are even worse. picture the band from above 'performing' and 'singing' in the middle of a crowd, while people are skateboarding in gorrilla suits, playing hackey-sack, kids pushing each other around in shopping carts, more faggot 15 year olds with 30 million piercings, stupid hair, and chain wallets dancing around trying desperately hard to 'rebel' against god only knows. it's pretty much an orgy of stupidity.

i hope i cleared things up a bit for you.

I'm always entertained by the self-consciously "real" punks I see, who are really making an effort. Americans just don't make good punks. It's always middle-class kids, which isn't very punk. And they're always clean! Even their clothes are clean. 18 years of expensive preventative dentistry kind of counts against you when you decide you're a punk one day. And they do things like go to college! And have jobs! They lack conspicuous substance dependencies - not even glue! The women are just as ugly as their flea-bitten counterparts in London or Berlin though, I'll give them that.

Avril Lavigne has sold 5 million albums! 5 FUCKING MILLION! Can you believe that? Either the masses cant be wrong or the masses are completely retarded and lack taste. I lean towards the latter judging from current fashion trends and music video's I have seen lately. Meanwhile bands like System of a Down and Disturbed are LUCKY to make 1 million in unit sales. This is the reason we will get more of the same souless,plastic,ready-made,reach up under your skirt and grab your balls you pussy,corporate pop music. If people stop buying it, then it will stop- and that isn't happening. In fact its about the only kind of music people are buying nowadays. Most people just download what they want and rarely fork over the over-inflated cost of a CD. Did you know it costs exactly the same to produce either a cassette or a CD? The same costs, yet CD's run around 16 bucks?! The record industry is robbing the consumer(on variety and financially), ass-pounding the artists(without even a reach-around) and taking all the profits home for themselves. All so some fatback can get richer off stupid kids who think Good Charlotte is "emotional".

As a side note to any of you who are musicians- I was reading a drum magazine and there was a poll done last year where kids voted Travis Barker from Blink 182 the "best" drummer. That is too much. He is in a freakin PUNK band!!!! HELLLLLLOOOOO!!! Its not rocket science kids. I could play drums in a punk band and I am a guitar player/singer!! How about Danny Carrey from Tool? Stephen Perkins from Jane's Addiction? Abe Cunnigham from Deftones? Carter Beauford from Dave Mathews? Hell I guarantee that fat black chick from Kid Rock could TEAR UP Travis. But no, the Blink drummer is way better than all of them! yeah right. Dumb kids.

I love all types of music, punk and hip-hop being my fav. Anyway it always seems everybody rips on punk and only seems to know four bands. That would be like me saying all metal sucks because I have only heard metallica, megadeath, System of a down, and slipknot.

Well if I dont like any of those four bands Im going to go around and rip on everyone who does, your just being ignorant, you are like everyone else, you judge based on minimal knowlage of a certain subject or event.

I agree some people are in this pop punk phase and jumping on the bandwagon, mostly 15-16 yr olds. But I have been listening to punk for about six years. Some of the pop punk is okay, others just suck and are shallow.

Travis barker is pretty damn good, the used is good, and tool is highly overated.

its just like trying to argue that black people are better than white people, they are just opinions, someones perception is reality, and its very hard to change someones reality.

You have been listening to punk for 6 years? So what? I have been listening to Reggae,classical,punk,hard rock,classic rock,electronic,house,jungle,Hip-Hop,drum N' Bass, etc for 17 years. Does that make me an expert? Of course not, and I am not saying no punk is good, what we are talking about is POP-PUNK and its ensuing fashion movement, glassy shinny pop punk. Not quite the same as Black Flag or the Exploited. Old punk is a lifestyle, not a fashion statement rebelling against your 40's ish yuppie parents and your 3 bedroom home in the burbs.

Travis is pretty good but in direct comparison with someone like Danny Carrey he is a joke. Musicians dont like to compare their talents like a race but when you have a "best" contest you should be looking at someone who is technically the best shouldn't you? I have met Travis and seen him play as well as met Danny and seen him several times. No comparison. Punk is simple and that is not the problem I have with it. It is that it lackes any fucking balls! Not all of it but the bands we mentioned and those like them.

Tool is overrated? You sir, have your head up your ass? Where is Lestat when you need him?

You should at least respect where all the music you like comes from. Without Ozzy and Led Zep there are no hard rock bands. To say Led Zep or the Doors are "played out" makes you sound like your 15. You are proving what Poink and I are talking about. Do you think bands like Good Charlotte would exist without Green Day? Every gay pop punk has based themselves on Green Day. Do you even know your punk history? How much do you know about reggae? You do know that the old punks used to listen to mainly ska and reggae right? Is this too far in the past for you? Are you one of those kids who is anti classic rock on the basis that its "played out"?

Im not saying that the doors or led zep suck at all, im just saying Im sick of hearing them. I dont know how many times I have heard "stairway to heaven" or "come on baby light my fire"

And why should I care about the history of my music? I dont.

Blink sucks. Sum 41 sucks. Avril sucks. Charlotte sucks. Anything ever on MTV with most likely suck.

That's why I stick to bands that nobody knows that get no airplay. Much more talent.
 
Tool is a good band IMO - Schism may be one of the "tightest" songs i've ever heard, in that the guitar is in sync with his words so well, as well as the drums at many points, i swear if you listen to it w/ headphones it is unreal, the cymbals sound like they were ran through a flanger. You can go all the way back to the start of them and listen to Opiate, and damn, its not like the newer stuff but still its awesome.

BigRedCat... do you really like Disturbed? Man I agree with you on a lot of that, but disturbed, you can't really point fingers at the explosion of pop-punk when disturbed rode the wave in with the likes of godsmack, saliva, soil, the whole heavy-garbage scene that flooded radio stations for a good year or 2. I went to a godsmack show a year and a half ago because 2 buddies really wanted me to go with them, i'm usually open to something i'm not super fond of, if so many people like it, there must be at least something about it i can like right? It sucked. I know you are in a band and stuff, but face it, all this shit is subjective, if your band was on the radio, do you know how many people would go "Man - this TOTALLY sucks." but then there would be some who like it too. not everybody is into your stuff, they haven't approached music from your angle.

I still agree though that tool is a good band.

ozzy is not famous because of his music. he's a star because of his on stage antics and off stage behavior.

avril is still young. by the time she's ozzys age she'll go down as a bigger icon of rock than any other female and most males, namely ozzy.

I actually don't mind sum41 too much. They don't take themselves too seriously, so there's no harm in that. Not my favorite band or anything, but certainly leaps and bounds better then the rest (good charlotte, new found glory, simple plan...) The pop punk stuff is awful. Really awful. I'd take boy band music over it in a heartbeat. Aside from it being annoying and so on, it is really a low grade bad level of music. Bad songs, poor musicianship, and basically just lackluster crap.

If i ever get to be high up in the music industry i'm going to put a few teeny boppers in a chant group, or maybe a polka band, just to see if i can make the teeny sheep follow it. My own experiment.

As for disturbed- no I dont personally like them, they are crap nu-metal in my opinon but I was using them as an example of modern rock. I dont like soil,godsmack or saliva either. All pretty much the same band. I do like bands of that genre, just not the cheesy ones. Its better than some fluffy pop-punk though.

What Poink and I were trying to point out to some of you is that your are buying into a fake ass plastic bullshit product that is being shoved down your throat and the worst part is you dont even realize it.

Wizkid25, I hope youre joking about not liking Rap. You cant argue that Rap is without a doubt the most 'real' music, with Rock coming in at a close #2.

Punk doesnt even make the top 10 of music genres.

The whole punk music (& lifestyle) is played out. I dont care if you like the Sex Pistols or Blink, its played out either way.

While some concepts in Rap get old, there is always innovation, and easily a wider variety of topics than what most 'punk' bands sing about.

I listen to rap, and punk, and metal, and everything rock... but anyways.. It's pretty sad to say that rap has more topic's than punk... rap is pretty much whatever comes to mind.. overall.. but so is punk..
Since you are not a fan of punk, you definately don't listen to much of it.. im guessing.. so how would you know if punk didn't cover more subjects or not?
I will not flame rap, because I respect it, but I also respect punk, and hate to see it bashed..
As a matter of fact, I hate any rock to be bashed, for I like it all.
