ruptured tendon...
Achiles tendon ruptured.....I am so upset....
I was playing tennis today and as I was lunging out towards the ball ....I heard a pop as I was being shot and instantly fell down....I was in agonizing pain...my friends took me to the ER...I was diagnosed with achiles tendon ruptured and I am gonna have surgery in a few days...

I am so down and upset...Does anyone have a ruptured tendon before? How was the recovery period?
.

I've never had one, but I've diagnosed a few in the ER. Unfortunately, it often requires surgery and recovery can be very long. I'm sorry. It's not the news you want to hear. Please remember to take it very easy until you are well healed. If you try to push yourself too hard, you will re-rupture it and create even more problems and even more prolonged recovery time.

A trainer I work with ruptured her achilles tendon playing soccer. She was on crutches for 2 months, then in a walking cast for another 2 months, and now she's in rehab for it.

Different bodies heal in different ways.
Just make sure you let it heal completely.

Feel better!

I cut my achilles on a metal drip pan 10 months ago.

It was a long, slow recovery. I did PT everyday for 3 months (months 3, 4, and 5.) I was able to run after 6 months. I still limp sometimes, like when it is cold outside or when I over do it at the gym.

its stiff and it still hurts (inflames)all the time it needs to be iced every day...the basic healing time for everyone is 16 to 18 months. how well you heal will only dictate if you do it again.....mine is 8 months past the 18 month healing window and it still sux....youll never be 85% again. i dont care what anyone says.....i play alot of softball and i tape it everytime to restrict the range of movement that is all that helps in the pain area

actually you can go up to 95%. It all depends on how good the repair was done and how much rehab you do.
