"I Remember"

I just remembered this fucking thread sux

I remember when Barrack Obama overturned the rule of law with a "special bankruptcy" for the auto industry that screwed the bond holders and shareholders to benefit his union masters....I remember both parties. I remember when Bill Clinton signed the repeal of Glass-Stegeall with pride that took down the firewalls between investment banking and banking...I remember..

Shhhh...Only Repubs are crony capitalists! Just ignore that wall street snubbed McCain and spent most of their contributions on Obama. In past elections, like most corporations, they gave roughly equal amounts to both parties.

I just wish people would pull there heads out of there asses an stop falling for the bullshit...Both parties are pigs and we are fucked in the ass no matter what the fuck happens... Unless we do something totally different.

Now that's some crazy talk. :)

I've been wasting my votes since I pulled the lever for Bush the elder. :)

if more people had voted for the crazy ross guy maybe we would not be where we are now... O what but then we have a house full of pigs and a senate full of crooks so that would not matter ether...

Sorry to tell everyone but nothing short of a st8 up revolt is going to pull the big black dick out the ass of America

Honestly, I don't regret voting for Bush the Elder. I think he is underrated...I'm a low tax guy but he raised tax rates because they needed to be raised. I almost voted for Dole and McCain, I'm biased for those that have served but at some point you have to make a stand. Taxes will have to go up and spending decreased by reducing discretionary spending and especially entitlements... this is the 800lb gorilla both parties ignore.

They beat republicans in the primary.

Did the words "Tea Party" appear on any ballot, as a third alternative to "Democrat" or "Republican"?

Or did all the so-called "Tea Party" candidates run in the Republican primaries?

Because, otherwise, since the usual two parties don't run against each other in a Primary Election, your claim is somewhere between meaningless and impossible if the "Tea Party" was a true third party.

That's a mere technicality. It's not like the tea party candidates aren't promoting the brand.

And that brand has an elephant for its symbol.

You just don't like the tea party people because they don't fit with your world view.

And I feel similarly, just toward the MoveOn/libtard crowd.

...and because they're a fake party, a thin veil behind which the same old GOP is hiding.

There are a lot of nuts on the left too, yes.

I don't see them as a fake party at all. They are a right-of-republicans movement that can split the republican vote if they aren't handled correctly.

I'd love to see 2-3 legitimate parties spring-up and force our government into a coalition-style system.

I'd love to see that, but Fox and Rove won't allow it to happen.

Soon enough "Tea Party" will go the way of "Where's the beef?", just another catch phrase linked to a specific time. Maybe not by 2012 but not long after that. Either it will succeed and the GOP leadership will be anxious to gather everyone back under the same tent, or else it'll fail and the GOP (and Fox) will be anxious to sweep it under the rug.

The flaw with the "tea party" is the fact most aren't fiscal conservatives. We could eliminate our entire defense budget, the bogeyman of liberals, and it still doesn't change the outlook...60% of federal spending goes to entitlements. You can't pay $1.00 and receive $10.00 in benefits. The retirement age needs to be raised, a means test applied, and a deductible attached to medicare, at the minimum.

I agree with means-testing all entitlements, but the view from the Right will be that this would be more income redistribution...

That's not true at all. There are plenty of fiscal conservatives who would like to means test entitlements as well as index them to our increasing lifespan. I'd even support a personal responsibility element added to it where deductibles increase for smokers, the obeste, heavy drinkers, drug users and people with other unhealthy lifestyles.

- We've got to end the wars too, even if it means settlement on less than favorable terms.

- I'd also support downsizing all federal agencies by 40% immediately and mandate 10% employee cuts per year for at least 5-10 more years.

- We need to end all foreign aid

- Stop all subsidies

- Repeal Obamacare

Broke is broke, and we're flat broke.

I don't think the GOP has had fiscal conservatives shape policy and spending since Reagan.

Where did all the debt come from? Not from Clinton, and blaming Obama for everything is just a cop out.

b0und (GOP = pork barrel)

$3B of the $13B is Barry's -- and he did that in less than two years.

Or was Reagan's debt actually Carter's and Bush's debt actually Clintons?

- Repeal Obamacare

Not only is "Obamacare" not the system that Obama proposed, but it's virtually identical to what Bob Dole proposed in 1996, as well as what Mitt Romney enacted in Massachusetts.

You people really are something.

Reagan was a fiscal conservative? When was that? Certainly not during his Presidency.

Common sense, working within a reasonable budget...what novel ideas you have! :)

It's entertaining to me how some people don't realize that we're broke and can't afford another trillion dollar entitlement. I'm ready to cut everything -- including conservative sacred cows like defense. I can't think of a single government program/agency that doesn't need a drastic haircut.

What entitlement?

Giving uninsured people insurance (or a subsidy for insurance) is an entitlement

How is that an expense then? I mean you guys keep saying that less taxes = more revenue. So we give some people a tax subsidy, and you claim it'll cost money. Which is it?

Oh yeah, it's only okay if the subsidies go to corporations...

It's taxpayers parting ways with a trillion dollars.

And no, it's not ok for it to go to corporations either.

Broke is broke.

It is income redistribution...but at least put it in the proper perspective as a welfare program. Bill Gates doesn't need a $300.00 check a month at age 65. The average middle class American receives multiples in benefits for every dollar they are taxed: I not only want the Bush tax cuts to expire but force everyone to have even more skin in the game. The Roman Republic fell based on entitlements to the unwashed masses promised by politicians to get them elected. The fact debt can monetized, unlike Rome, just makes this more certain for America.

Bill Gates' SS check will be a lot more than $300/mo.

Bill Gates' SS check will be a lot more than $300/mo.

It will be a lot less than what he paid in...SS only gives a good return for the very poor....it's a welfare check. To paraphrase Marge, "The problem with socialism is that you run out of other people's money." There is a reason 10% unemployment is normal in Western Europe. Denmark used to give five years of unemployment benefits, not surprisingly, people started finding jobs at 4 years and 9 months...they lowered it and people started finding jobs a few months before their benefits were up...it's down to around two years now and people find jobs shortly before their benefits end. These types of entitlements destroy the human spirit. Toledo has one of the highest unemployment rates in Ohio and my favorite pizza parlor is advertising for drivers that get health care benefits and can make a reasonable living @ $15.00 an hour on average just working weekdays.

The US government has created an artificial market for unemployment that is confounded with the legitimately unemployed. Now we can't tell the difference.
