I agree with the above posts. I would try to get a degree from a 4-year university rather than a community college if you would like to score a higher paying computer-related job out of college. Unless you happen to have extensive computer knowledge out of high school (ASP, SQL, C++, CGI, XML, etc.), I would recommend complementing your computer science degree with a business major or minor.
If a 4-year university is not an option for academic or financial reasons, make damn sure you are top of your class or close to it.
Finally, try to get a good knowledge of Oracle or other database management environments - that will help you a lot.
I'm a Finance & Marketing major at the University of Virginia, but I've been heavily involved in web development and database management for the past 5 years in my summer jobs.
