I need help with modifying an MP3 file please

big perm

New member
I want to put an audio book on my player for a trip I have to take on a plane, but the file is about twice the size of the memory on my player. Does anyone know how to break the file into two separate files so I can put half on now, listen to it and then put the other half on later? I leave tomorrow so it's kinda urgent. Much thanks in advance.

Get a converter (do a search on tucows) and make the mp3 back to a wav file.

From the wav file you can split it then re-encode it as mp3.

do a search on google "mp3 to wave split"

Download SoundForge 6.0 - the trial version.

Open the mp3 file.

Click on Save As.

In the BitRate box, select 64 kbps since its voice quality.

Save the file as a new one, like "Filename - low qual.mp3".

Easy cheezy.
