I love my new TV

60": That's a WHOPPING big piece of glass, if they're still using glass on flat displays. I've heard good things about those Sharps, and if I'm correct, Sharp still owns some really important patents on that type of display. I'm still all-tube (except for a 13" Aquos in our camping trailer). For 1080 HD, I picked up a couple of high-end Sony tube sets on CL. I have yet to see any flat display (LCD, plasma, or LCOS, etc), that can come close to the color depth and contrast of the 34" Sony HD WEGA tube (Mine are KV-34XBR910 & KV-30XBR910). For standard def., I have yet to see anything as good as my old Zenith sets; 1965 round tube 26KC20 (with a US Navy military-spec surplus black tube which I upgraded to), and my 1972 model with 25DC56 chassis (with a Phillips 25VDMP22 Mirrorblack tube in it).

I'll go check out the new sets when I get a chance... I always go into the store worrying that I'll be tempted, but I always walk out happy that my old sets still look better to me.

I Figured you would show up ,Yeah that Sony HD WEGA Is a close runner, the reason i picked this one was it stood out over everything in the store mainly because a yellow pixil was added.

I dislike the Sharp aquous, not all but many have a known issue that if you stand to a 45 degree angle to it the screen looks totally green, which is F up when u have guests and parties.

Wow, 60... that's colossal. Sharp is always good 2. I bet ist's amazing.
Thands got a LG LE5400 like 4 months ago. We picked it out after I did some research. It is awesome.

Thing is though she's got wifi access to netflix, picasa, youtube, and vudu...however she would have to hook up her macbook and all that vgi cable crap to get full access to internet.
Still the picture quality is so good. We both agreed that getting a 3dtv would not be in her best interest, cause in 2 years te technology will be betta and cheaper.

I have a 42" viera back in CR, best TV ever, mom had a 52" LG I really hated, has some strange color distortion on back backgrounds... bleh....

makes gay pr0n viewing realistic?

a yellow pixil was added.

That could be interesting! I've never seen one, and one of my complaints about any color TV since the first one in 1954, is that there's no brown, and no yellow. Only optical illusions for those colors since they didn't have any yellow phosphor to make yellow a TV primary color. Maybe I'll go check one out. Won't buy, because it would wreck my reputation for being the eternal tube man. Otherwise, I might get tempted.

This 60" doesn't just checked

40" samsung lcd with no surround sound representin!

The audio they put in these sets even my 60" sucks!
Heck the CRT (picture tube ) set had better & louder sound than these things ...i guess thats why every one of mine has surround sound.

There hasn't been a TV with decent audio since the Sony component sets of 1981. (KX-1901/KX-2501). And those didn't come with any speakers. You had to buy them separately. Great sound on even the smallest speakers of three options. Other than that, you have to go back to a 1950s black & white TV in a big wooden cabinet. Some of those had actual twin-vacuum tube push-pull Williamson circuit amplifiers with 15" tri-axial speakers!

Yeah! I remember those, heck even some solid state sets at 19" will put these Huge LCD/Plasma sets audio to shame.

Twin turbo vacuum quadraphonic super flux capacitor all wood surround boob tube with micro axial delorian components and amplified 3 piece sound stage sporting 15" Bose earthshakers. Only $99.95!

I'm not old, but this TV is... A '48 Magnavox Windsor Imperial with giant 10-inch tube, and power-guzzling enormous amp and JBL 15" speaker... They designed it with the 500-lb wooden cabinet as a sounding chamber for the speakers. Cost about the same as a new Chevy in 1948!

Here's my little collection of the Sony component TVs... I have all of them; 3.7" (KXM-370), KX-1211, KX-1901, KX2501, and all the tuner and speaker options. No idea why I feel that I have to keep so many, but it's an addiction like lifting, I guess....
