I know what was wrong with my puter

and im not downloading the service pack 2 again, i will call microsoft and get them to send me a disk......cuz i had to redo my whole puter and reinstall EVERYTHING.....its a good thing the Dell dude said, but i need to call microsoft and get it that way instead of downloading it from the net

yeah i have a firewall

but it wouldnt hook up to the cable modem and i had to reboot my whole systme this morning

but it works now

There's an issue with some Dells and SP2, you have to upgrade your BIOS to the current version before installing SP2, or it'll bomb. One of the symptoms is that you lose network connections.
