Have you ever heard of not mixing fats and carbs? I usually supplement with flax when eating a meal without carbs. It gives me the energy and calories i need to keep going throughout the day. Also it helps in slowing down the digestion of the protein which is perfect for people who use whey as their primary source for protein supplementation.
 
they say not to mix fat and carbs b/c carbs are sugars which will raise your insulin levels. insulin will shuttle in nutrients to the various places in your body that need them.
if there is fat in there, it will happily shuttle that to your fat stores as well.

(lol - obviously that is a simplified descritption)

Welcome to the club my man..I've thrown up from flax probably about 6 times...I used to try to drink it before school in the morning with protein and oatmeal...stopped after the 4th puking session
