I'll be back to full time work in 2 weeks. I have mixed emotions. On one hand, I'm THRILLED to have MONEY again. Holy cow, I've been POOR. On the other hand, I'm going to miss my little boy SO BAD. :bawling:

who's going to be taking care of the little one?

I think you'll be fine though once you get back into the swing of things. Once you start making money again you have alot more flexibility with things, and can still spend lots of time with your son

Congrats on the job, You`ll enjoy picking up the little one after work and seeing his eyes light up.

You'll still have most of the day and the weekends hopefully to spend with him. Just think of it as a better way to ensure his welfare and yours.

Cheers,
Scotsman

I think that my sister is going to come by my live in nanny. That is what I want so that he still will have that close one-on-one attention during the day.

I'm happy to have a job. That is for sure. I haven't been able to do all the little things for him that he deserves. Now, I will have plenty of money to provide for him on my own.

Yay! :elephant:

Can't be easy being a single mom.
I hope your ex is helping with child support at the very least. Good luck.

heather congrads on the new job, man i really want to have sex with you

Thanks!

The ex makes over $500k/yr and hasn't given the baby a penny. I haven't asked him for anything, but it is pretty pathetic that he hasn't even checked to see if his son is healthy or anything.

I ain't gonna lie.... You'll be a mess the first few weeks leaving the beautiful Dev .

But hey, a lot of us mom's do it, and our kids are thriving!

CONGRATS on the new JOB! Yippy for you!

Thats so fucking sad, I'd go back to dealing coke (something I swear to never do agian) to support my little girl. She gets whatever she wants, she 7 and has more Dooney & Bourke, Prada than most women I know. Dad didnt have a pot to piss in growing up, so she gets spoiled to the max.

That's messed up that you should have to ask.
I'm not saying he should have to support you but wouldn't the state require him to pay support for his child?

oh man, be careful. They call it spoiled for a reason. Their character/personality/ soul will begin to stink and you will wish you never did that.

the fact you're an attorney , i'd imagine getting child support considering you have full time custody wouldn't be that difficult, right?

you obviously love your daughter and want her to have the best...but shit

you're breeding the exact type of girls we all despise. She's not even old enough to appreciate prada or any type of high end fashion. To her its probably just a shirt or shoe or whatever.
some of the kids my nephew goes to school with have true religion jeans...the kid is 5 years old.

wtf?

She's not going to have any clue the type of struggle you went through to take care of her if she's spoiled at a young age. This is why me and my dad have alot of friction at times...i was a silver spoon baby and he came from a war stricken country.

Have you told him? Talked to him about it?

I know things ended on terrible terms and he must *know* about the pregnancy from normal grapevine activities - but I'd think if you expected a check to show up that you'd also write a letter.

What a odd situation - did he end up doing any time?

I could get it easily. I just don't want anything negative in the baby's life. If the father WANTS to help, then I will let him. I'm not going to force him to do so because I don't want Devin to have to hear him say negative things about having to support him.

I make good money now -- plenty for our little family. =-) He may not get everything he ever wants, but he will get everything he needs.

No jail time. It was plead out to anger managment and probation. That is okay with me. I'm out of there and have a gorgeous little boy and my life is so happy now.

He knew about the pregnancy and must know that the baby is born by now. Truthfully, though, he has such an alcohol problem that I would be afraid to leave him alone with the baby. That truly is not out of any hard feelings that I have toward him because my anger is completely gone. He just tends to drink and drive and leave his kids alone in the house. I wouldn't want his 13 year old watching the baby while he goes out on a bender, and I'm sure that is what would happen.

I'm just not sure what to tell Devin about his daddy when the time comes. I kick myself in the butt that I was so bad at choosing a mate. I know that no matter what I say it is going to hurt Devin's feelings that his daddy isn't in his life.

She has alot to lose and she knows it, being a good mom and dad gos along way. She knows other kids dont have what she does and that it does not make her better than them. Plus in the future when she gets lipy with mom or acts like a fool, BAM going to school dressed in shit from the thrift store will give her a mental check. And I'm talking 1970's shit from the thrift store lime green even.

FANTASTIC ON THE PUMPING. It's the best product on market to bring up a strong, healthy child!

Also, I might add, DO NOT go over and check on Devin on your lunch hour. I know, I know, that sounds harsh, but, I tried that and it made it worse for me. You may be able to handle it, I could NOT! However, lunch hour visits are good once you get over the hump of the first two or three weeks of seperation.

I'm with you, I'd never ask the "father" for money. However, I, like you, never depended on a man OR anyone for anything! My daddy loved me enough to teach me that! :)

Sorry not trying to jack the thread, but people need to start taking care of their kids. Good luck heatherrae with the new job you sound like a good mom and when your kid gets older he will know that you not him where the one that took care of them. Hence the title Super Mom in your future.

Great news! Best of luck

It's so nice to hear what an effect him being born has done for your happiness. I can't wait till February to have my baby girl.

that's great heather!

the first day i went to work after having my son, i CRIED and cried. i think i cry every year on their first day back to school too, and my son is almost at driving age.

you'll get used to it though. kinda.

either way, you're going to make him very proud of you.

The lawfirm of Donahue, Ingalls, Nichols, Gertwine, Bagley, Asselin, and Traft is getting a great attorney.

Congrats

It all worked out...for us too. Creepy old man guy can no longer block your internet access...

Speaking of...how are you going to post from court?

wow hun..That is great. I know it sucks that you have to be apart but take wisdom from me....me and my kids were never seperated. They cannot stay with anyone except their father and 1 grandmother. every one else my 2 year old cries due to me never seperating...
It is good for you, and him to do this.. You will both be fine

I was doing that while I was pregnant. There is very little money in Ky to be made that way, unfortunately.

That is a good point. I think there is just a certain age range where they tend to be stranger shy, but, yeah, socialization certainly helps.

=-)

I wont post from work.

Yeah, my ex was creepy & controlling. The worst thing a bf can do with me is try to control me. So it was doomed from the start.

I wanted to be the first one to post that.

I'm a really good masseuse, too.

Ever tried sex on the beach? :qt:

Wait, tongue ring? According to recent thread that would make her a total whore or at least an attention whore? Does she do coke? If so, sounds like JH1 might want to meat her...... :)

I've told her before," she was like having a Ferrari that dosen't run sitting in the driveway, what's the use of that! I'd rather have a 76' powder blue Pinto that starts up everytime you get in it and you can actually go somewhere in it. That makes more sense...", damn shure did.

She is beautiful, no doubt, but she's just going to be an lonely old bitter woman. Living with her is like living with a woman whose having the worst PMS day of her life, everyday...

How's Lefty? Congrats on your job too, hope you like it, you'll be the "new hawtie" for awhile, that will be fun, huhhh....

hey my mom had one of those and my dad had a 1968 chevy chevelle SS. he let it rust on the side of the house and when i asked him if i could have it and restore it he said no it will cost me too much money and then sold it for $500. im 32 right now and my dad still thinks he can control what i do.

oh and congrats heather on the new job. when my son was born i spent the first 3 weeks with him on family medical leave act and when it was time to go back to work i didnt want to. but being arrested for desertion from the Navy kinda had a real good motivating factor for me to return... lol

matter of fact we just got back from camping this weekend with his cubscouts. spend as much time as you can with your son. mine is 9 going on 10 next month and i already see him hitting 18 before i blink again. can you believe my son is 130lbs and stands up to my kneck with the top of his head and im 6'2"? i used to hold him in my one arm he was so little. he was a month early too and hes HUGE now. its going fast and i cant slow it down no matter what i do.

i know you are a great mom. show him how to be a great man as he grows.

Excellent about the job for you!! :)

As for your son *being hurt that his daddy isn't in his life*? That man is NOT Devin's daddy. That man donated sperm. You are doing your son a HYUGE favor by not involving that man in his life for any reason whatsoever not even for the money for there is no amount of money that would compensate for the damage he would most certainly do.

Go about your business of taking care of you and your family and someday when a good man who deserves the two of you comes along, he will be THRILLED to be Devin's daddy.

Family is not decided by blood alone.

This is my thoughts, not meant for HR and Lefty, it's a thought for anyone who is in the situation of single parenting w/ a egg/sperm donor who is less than stellar.
The general thought process is that "I don't want to give the SOB/ Bitch the satisfaction of time with MY child. We can make it just fine and the child is better off w/o him/her. When there is child support involved, the money is often traded for the ability to keep the child from the other IF the parent does not ask/ accept it. In many cases unfortunately, that is just fine with the other parent, seems males fall into this more than females.
My point, the child support isn't the parents, it's the childs. By not moving to get the money, your saying you can't have what is rightfully yours. When the money is in the thousands per month, that is a big decision to make for that child. At 3-5K per month or more, that will go a long way for where the child lives, the grade schools he will attend, quality of education he can get if sent to private school, college, travel while growing up, cars, etc. Yes, the money may be there anyway, but the fact is that unless there is eminent harm to the child if the parent has visitation, that is cheating the child of something that is rightfully his/hers. If the parent is THAT bad, then custody can be very limited w/ an other person, to a specific place, or terminated all together w/ the Cild support ordered anyway. Another thing, the parent may be given visitation rights and not exercise them, or very little, which is usually the case, doesn't stop the money every month, but as the visits become less and less, then you can petition the court for no more visitation. ( HR is sighing, Tx knows I'm a lawyer, why is he going over this....again)
I'm just bringng up a side of this story that seems never to be talked about. It's easier just to sweep it under the proverbial rug and say,
"We'll be fine w/o them." Which is probably true, but my point needs to be said, especially when the money is a large sum per month, more than enough to change the way a child may be able to experience the world.
My point is, just consider what the money can do for your child, it IS theirs, not yours and make deciasions based on that, not "I hate the MF'er that fathered my child, he doesn't deserve to see them." Maybe not, but the fact still remains, (1) it isn't your money, and (2) at some point, your child will probably want to know this other person, and then where will you be, no child support needed if your child wants to innitiate the contact, and of course you will let him/her.
I think it's best to assume that this will happen, and get the money coming to the child, the rest will work it's self out, but get the money for your child. That's my veiw, lots of variables, but all in all, I think it's the best way.
This may not be the "popular" view, but it's mine....

This may not be the "popular" view, but it's mine....

I feel you believe me. I VOLUNTARILY SHARED custody with a man over and above what the court allowed because *I thought* it was the right thing to do. What did my exhusband do? He only beat me "pretty bad"... I mean he didn't kill me.... that time. And I still shared, oh and I WASNT getting childsupport or spousal, but I STILL SHARED. Now after a 7+ year nightmare (that has cost my children 400K) my ENTIRE family is in a state that no family should ever be in because the law is actually protecting our abuser. You only need ONE ignorant judge and your children are fucked forever. The laws that are designed to protect the rights of DECENT MEN are being manipulated by scum. I can post you links to all sorts of sites and organizations advocating for families just like mine... but that isn't helping our children today.... is it?

Ms Heatherrae was thrown throw a glass door.

You REALLY think that child should have a man like that in his life?

And yea, on paper, that money sounds good. But the reality is, controlling sick scumsucking bastards will want their pound of flesh regardless, ESPECIALLY if there is money involved.

Your heart is in the right place and if this were a more perfect world, I would echo your sentiments. But beig that my family and I are forced to live in topsy turvy world, I must humbly agree to disagree.

Edit - I just saw the beginning of your post and just glossed over it.

MY BAD.

Having said that, in those cases, where the guy is just less than stellar and not an abusive animal, go to court and get the money that is due your child. Just because the two didn't get along as a couple that does not mean that he does not deserve the chance to father his child.
