I feel like a walking stick...

I feel like a walking stick. I have a 6'6" ectomorphic body and can't seem to put on any weight. I've been working out for two months now and i've seen just a little improvent during that whole time. I still want to put on muscle mass but just can't for some reason. I take the creatine twice a day after workouts but i still don't feel muscular. I thought taking protein shakes too. Do they really work? And if so what is the best kind? Please someone help me out! Thanks.

Working out = Dieting. Your diet is what decides if you get good muscle gains or not. You should be eating at the very least 1.5G Protein per pound of body weight if you want to get good gains. And if your a hardgainer like me, you will need tons of carbs and fats with that protein because your body will burn off twice what normal people will, basically your goal should be to become a huge fat ass while working out. It took me years to believe that diet was the most important part, guess im not a very quick learner.

You're not gonna see much in two months. Give it time, dude. You'll see some gains if you keep at it. Eat, eat, eat.

His goal should be to become a huge fat ass? Tch...that's just unhealthy man. You can make solid gains without putting on so much fat.

Eat everything in sight. Look at the goal as long-term.

I feel small even at a fairly lean 6'2" and 285+. Here are two pics of me from my last contest...

Me next to Jon Andersen. You can even see an outline of my abs...and I look small and fat next to him...lol

2 months is nothing bro. Like the first guy mentioned, weight gain is ALL about diet. You can train hard, and not eat enough...and you'll get stronger, but not bigger. You can eat alot and not train...and you'll get bigger, but not stronger (fatter). You gotta do both if you want good results.

Also, it takes your body a while to adapt to your training. Until now most of your strength gains have probably been from neuromuscular adaptation...now it's time to eat big and grow some muscle.

It takes time brother! Eat everything and get in atleast 1-1.5 grams of protein per pound of bodyweight or more. Make sure youre training hard as well, and getting sore after each workout. If not, its time to up the intensity and frequency. I like casein protein the best, but its difficult to find these days. Milk and peanut butter or also great ways to get in that extra protein. I dont eat too clean ,but I shoot for 220 grams of protein a day minimum. If I can get 280 Ill do it. You can check out my diet journal in the diet forum for some ideas.

Also what really made the difference for me, is writing my diet and training down. Recording it in a written journal. It keeps me motivated to eat and train hard and you can look back on it and see how much youve progressed. Hope that helps!

thanks for all the help guys! I will try to eat more and work out twice as hard.

Now don't over-due the training either, or you won't grow due to overtraining -- Not giving the muscles time to recover from workouts.
