I have just started really training in endurance because i want to be able to run and last in high stress physical activities for a long time.

i started exactly one week ago
walking first 7 days for around 3-4miles a day keeping my heart rate up above normal
Then today i started jogging i was able to jog for about 2 miles at a steady pace. so i will try to increase speed and distance every day for the next week until im at running speed

About how long would it take to go from walking to running a couple miles a day?
(can you guys give me tips to do this as well, thanks everyone!)

Thanks to everyone who can help! _/\_

It depends on your age and what kind of condition you're in.

What kind of high stress physical activities are you doing? Running's not going to be enough. You likely need to develop power, strength and muscular endurance as well.

Running is tricky thing to gauge how fast you will progress. When you say jogging, tell me how long it took you to run the 2 miles or what miles per hour were you running.

Plus I would also advise sticking with those 2 miles per day or every other day for at least two weeks or so. You need to hold steady and let your body get used to the stress of running.

Then move onto something more formal like 4 days a week. Tuesday 3 miles, Thursday 4 miles, Saturday 3 miles and Sunday 5 miles. That gives you days off to recover and gives you a longer day on Sunday. So then you run Tuesday and Thursday close to as fast as you can. Saturday run it 30 seconds per mile slower than Tuesday. Sunday run 30 seconds per mile slower than Saturday.

After a couple weeks of that then you can add two miles onto Sunday and if you feel like it a mile onto Tuesday and Thursday. But I am really getting ahead of myself here.

If you had been fit before, you should be able to jog 5km comfortably in 4-6 weeks. Not sure if you were never fit

from personal experience, i've found a good way to increase endurance is HIIT Cardio. google it you'll find a bunch of examples but basically you start out with a 4 minute workout. alternate between 30 second sprints, and 30 second slow jog for the whole time. if youre doing cardio three times a week, you want to increase by 1 minute every other workout.
So on cardio workout number 3 youd do 5 minutes. most examples ive read in terms of running have you go up to 14 or 15 minutes peak time.

this is also a much more effective fat burning workout. the problem with running lets say 5 miles at a steady speed is your body adjusts to it. alternating speeds makes it so your body cant do this. it also helps you burn more fat without losing as much muscle, so its recommended by most bodybuilders who do cardio.
