I can't stand fucking spineless people!!! Be a man and stand up for yourself and don't be such a wimp when someone suggests something uneccessary, god dammit!!!

The fucker couldn't even look me in the eye when he met with a few of us as he knows he is wrong.

He wants to put myself and 2 others on call on a rotating basis because of the useless fuckups he hires in the operations area on the weekends. Bobo the chimp would do a better job!!

I took this job for the reason that there was no on call bullshit!

On call over my dead body!!!! If I am forced to then I guess its time to look for work.

You know this is soooo true, myself and the guys taht I have worked with have put in so much extra time on this project we are on, not for the good of the company but because we take pride in our work.

This guy gets pushed around by his peers and the higher ups so I think he feels the need to exercise his management power on us.

I think he fails to realize that myself and the others I work with aren't the usual quiet I.T. types.

It seems I am on call all the time..I swear they have emergency dial to my work cell...(and like Y says they pay that bill)

But we get triple a full days pay for any work over 2 hours that we get called in for...So I don't complain.

onerep--I gotta disagree with you. A good boss gets rid of the dead weight and disributes work evenly. Employees that are successful, may get more challenging jobs that require more responsibility, but not more work. Unforunately, it seems that there are too many management people that don't want to be the "bad guy/girl" and hold onto their dead weight and let them feed off everyone else.... And then it eventually ends up with a department with bad morale/attitude...

Actually, you agree with me. I probably did a bad job stating it, but basically, I feel just the way you do about it. If the boss leans more on the people who perform and less on the people who don't, they are doing a dis-service to the hard workers.

I get paid double time if I have to come in but the whole point is I don't wanna do this in the first place. We all took our jobs because there was no on call required.

Can they actually make you be on call, especially since it was an agreed on thing when you were hired? Would they let you spend a couple extra hours a couple days on your normal workdays, so you could help correctly train the new hires so on call wouldn't be needed?

The problem is we have a part-time guy that comes in on the weekend in the computer Operations dept. If he has any problems with the stuff he does they want someone to be on call to help him.

I suggested exactly what you suggested, I said either give them more training or find someone that can do the job rigth. This all happed because this guy screwed up on the weekend. My co-workers and myself don't wanna suffer because of some guys inability to do his job.

That is the problem with my boss, always reacting and is never pro active.

Apparntly I was just told they can force us to be on call.

I think that you are in the right here...if you gave your boss alternative ideas on how to "fix" the situation in a way that is going to work for everyone, and he wouldn't consider them then he is truly being unfair. And it sounds like he is making you guys pay for his mistakes...not really the mistakes of the part-timer that wasn't ready to work on his own.

Plus if the part-timer got put in a situation without the proper training or skill...the poor guy was doomed to fail. And now, if he has you guys as permanent backup for him it is going to be difficult for him ever to be successful because he won't ever have to think his way through a problem..there will always be a babysitter for him...

Hopefully your bosses head will clear and he will start thinking clearly by tommorrow...good thing for you it is the beginning of the week....Good Luck!!

You have no control when you work for other people. I hate it too. I wish that I could come up with an idea for my own business that would work and wouldn't be too much of a pain in the ass.
