I almost lost EVERYTHING-BEWARE of painkillers

What happened to you could happen to anyone. Pain Killers will get to anyone if they use them long enough it is just a fact. Hang in there and never forget how much better your life is today that it was while you were using.

Peace

Thanx again for everyones concern-not many people think like "we" do-anything to make us look or feel better sometimes gets out of hand

The only reason I decided to post this is hopefully it can help someone out here. I have been training and competing for a long time and willing to do anything to grow. I started doing Nubain in 2000 to "help" get me through tough workouts--at least thats what I told myself back then. It quickly got to the point where I "needed" bain to feel normal. I went from that to oxycontin but continued to train, for a while. It got out of control and I was shooting oxy's every 2 hours or so. Last June I got an infection in my heart called endocarditis from using one of my old steoid needles to shoot oxy's--I got down to 204lbs from around 275lbs. I continued to use in the hospital for 8 weeks--thank God for my family and friends not giving up on me and I went to a treatment center in MS for 4.5 months-I have not used opiates now for 5 months and bodybuilding and elitefitness are helping me stay clean--some of you might read this and say "that shit will never happen to me", but I used to think the exact same thing--sorry if this is not appropriate but hopefully it will change someones mind before they use nubain or any other opiates "just to help them train harder"

Props bro! Keep up the good work!

I have battled the same shit for the last 5 years and it was hell! I was hurt in the Army on a night jump and broke my leg and then developed a staph infection where they had to remove my small bone in my leg. Well at first they had me on percocet and then slowly moved me up to oxcontin which I was on for about 4 years. It really changed me and got to be all I cared about until I lost my job which was awesome and my wife and kids and many other things. I finally decided to quit after my heart stopped and was rushed to the hospital and flatlined twice in front of my parents! It was the hardest thing I have ever done including all the schools I've been through in the military and Desert Storm.

I still have to deal with things all the time like after getting stabbed and terrified about being put on pain killers but I was straight forward with the Doctor so he knew and also now with breaking my jaw, nose, and shattering my eye socket. That one was tough because I was on the meds for a longer time so I started to lose control but I was able to put a stop to it before it got out of hand!

Just in the last 4 years I have lost 8 friends to pain killers including the best man in my wedding so you think I would have had no problem quitting anf I still did so it's a tough road but if I can do it so can you! good luck bro!
