Humble Request to the EF Powers that Be

I'm a lifetime plat member. I believe supporting the site is important. But another part of what I purchased as a plat was less spam.

Knowing that I paid a premium for less spam, why is there a half-page ad for "LIFETIME PLATINUM MEMBER" filling my screen? I don't need a 8 days, 00 hours, blah blah countdown timer wasting screen space for a service I've already purchased.

Well I've never complained about the full page of "Announcements" but now this new ad has pushed me to about two pages of useless spam before I see the first thread title. It's a bit too much.

This is a good exercise in seeing how effective making a "Humble Request" is without any ranting or raving.

My request is still outstanding. I haven't heard a thing back yet either.

You have a point there. Part of what I received for my money was support of the site -- which obviously I've gotten. The other part of what I paid for was less spam -- which I'm obviously not getting.

This isn't really an ombudsman issue anyway is it? I'm a huge fan of the program, but I thought it was more of a go-between when members and mods get crossways. Either way, both you guys do the job very well.

And the "LIFETIME PLATINUM MEMBER" spam is really just what triggered me making this request. Even using AdBlock to nuke a lot of the annoying stuff, I'm still scrolling past a lot of Announcements and junk to get to the posts.

For me its all about screen real estate. I'll keep at least 2 spreadsheets and one powerpoint up all day, so having a smaller browser window where I can click on "profile" and not need to scroll is a huge plus (a plus I thought I paid for, actually).
