I take it you have never seen Ronnie Coleman in the off-season. I saw Ronnie in 1998 and I bet he had 33-34 inch legs. This guy doesn't even compare.

those are still some big ass wheels, i wish my legs looked like that

That is one big dude! I wish i had calves like that! Hell, i would settle for my whole body to look like that. And yeah, Ronnie Coleman has some big legs, but i find in the off season he is kinda smooth looking. Plus i have never been crazy about Ronnie's calves.

I think because i hate my calves i am more cinical about other people's calves. Damn things just won't grow!!!!!

colemans calf is about as big as my forearm... i hate that guy

lol

For those of you impressed with this guy's "size," his name is Brad Hollibaugh. Aside from being the guy who needs a "one guard to the entire head" worse than anyone on the planet, he has enough oil(read: synthol) in his "muscles" that the U.S. might be better off invading him as opposed to Iraq.

tom platz is the man when it comes to legs. i watched a video where he had I believe 6 45lb plates per side, and he did 23 straight reps with it

Ehiems, I hope youd don't mind. I edited your post so the pic would show, rather than having a link.

WTF???? I see more bodybuilding pollution by Mister Worst Hair In The History Of Things That Have Hair (per SSME) on this thread.

How did you find those pics? Were they buried on some page with 237383920 of bicep poses? Bet he was only able to get two pics off before that homeowner called the cops to get him off his car.

I don't find those pics impressive at all. Look at the thickness of his knees. That is just a former fat boy that lost weight.

WizKid, what you doing browsing gay sites anyway?

I remember reading a story a few years ago about Tom Platz. Apparently when he started training as a teenager, he had pathetic legs. At the time, he was training at a local gym that was filled with powerlifters somewhere in Columbus, Ohio. These powerlifters notice the dramatic changes with Platz, but they didn't notice any changes in his legs. The powerlifters in the gym forced Tom to perform at least 10 sets of squats or he was not allowed to leave. From that point on, he transformed a terrible muscle group into the best lower body anyone has ever seen. It goes to show you what determination can do for you. Next time you train legs. . . . think about Tom Platz!!

I was fortunate enough to train with Platz last year, hanged out with him and his wife for 2 weeks. This guy turns heads everywhere! Even at his rertired stage, his legs and calves have a freaky transparent look to them when he walks...unbelievable!!!

Tell us more about this!:D

I flew out to California to learn how to fuckin squat like Tom. I asked if he could teach my sorry ass how to squat like him. He said he could teach me to adopt good form and technique within a 2 week period. So I flew my ass out to LA and met Tom and his wife!
A lot of guys never develop awesome leg development because many don't realize there are many factors, ingredients for mastering the Platz Squats (Olympic squats done with a bent bar)
Heres how I trained for two weeks:
a. Core strenght development
b. Speed strenght development
c. Flexibility (especially ankle)
d. Motor pathway development
e. Dynamic balance
f. Accessory and stabilizing muscle development
g. Compensatory accelaration
h. Agility
This is the kind of stuff you don't read about in mags, they never associate this type of training with squats.
It kicks ass being the only Mother Fucker at my Gym who knows squat!
Oh yeh, Tom introduced my ass to Arnold:supercool, Flex wheeler, Joe Gold, Cory Everson (I think I wet my pants huggin her). I remember Franc Columbo there with Arnold. It was funny, when Tom greeted Columbo, his ass couldn't even look Tom in the eye!:D

care to explain more on the flexibility and agility and balance issues?

Being able to perform very strict squats - your butt touching the ground, your knees are in front of your toes - you need to develop a high degree of ankle and hip flexion.
Balance - most people who squat poorly tend to at an angle were it is sort of a forward lean rather than an up-and down angle which requires a degree of balance. Developing good balance and muscle stabilizers prevents many knee injuries and helps keep your back more erect were you squat more of an up-and down movement in which the stress is directly on your quadriceps. (not your ass or lower back)
As far as why improving agility etc., was important in helping me squat better...I don't remember his reasons. I was more like, "Whetever you say Tom, lets do this".:D

wait....did you jsut call Tom up and say, 'im comin over for 2 weeks, show me how to squat...'

if thats the case ill save up money and visit Arnold...

You would be crazy to visit Arnold instead of the great Platz!! Arnold never had legs any larger than 29 inches. Platz on the other hand had 34 inch legs.

If you are intested in squatting weight for strength. . . . . make a visit or read books published by Dr. Fred Hatfield.
