How many sets would you guys recommend doing on the HST negative cycle? I am thinking that 1 set per lift should be plenty as it may be hard to recover otherwise. What do you guys think?
That's what I would do. You are doing more weight than before, plus the eccentric emphasis really kills the muscles in terms of recovery. After the first week if you felt really good you could try 2 sets the second week.

Though it's been upwards of 8 years now, I've had extensive experience with negatives, including negative-only stuff. It was nasty. I don't think soreness is indicative of all that much but I can say this: negative-only loads with upwards of 125% 1 RM left me sore to the touch for almost a WEEK!
