How will you remember 9/11?

I will thank god that my two brothers both officers now in the New York Fire Department are alive and well unlike some of there fellow brothers.

I will recall trying desperately to get through to NY my home town to make any contact with my brothers or learn of any news and will recall the days I waited with no word.

I will recall the day I spoke to them exhausted and beat and tried to listen while they spoke without breaking down. I will never know what they saw and what they went through but I will never ever forget.

I think about it everyday, because we have reminders all over the firehouse reminding us of the event, so I wont be doing too much different, although we are planning a moment of silence.

I really feel for what your brothers went through, and I didnt really think about what you had to go through, and now I see that you had a hard time, and to that I say god bless you and stay strong..

I feel like a total ass, whenever anyone brings up 9/11, I think about my brothers of FDNY, and totally forgot to give thanks to all of the men and women of our armed forces who are putting their lives on the line for our country every day, THANK YOU..

I will remember it as the day that everything i felt about muslims was proved right. I have been saying nuke these fuckers since i was 8 years old. the day that so many of those who stood for what was right in this country died. The day that many people went off to work and be productive, and the day people lost those that they love more than anything.

Do they know William Lake?

My brother frank was in Engine 53 in Manhattan just promoted to Lieutenant in a new house close by my brother Peter was in Brookly Engine 226 and also just got promoted and is now in Jamacia Queens. What engine number is he in? pm me and i will call them. My dad was a captain in engine 280 which lost many guys on 9/11. its in the same house as ladder 132 and my dads 2 brothers where both captains. my dad though retired drove up from Florida to help dig. The whole things gives me chills.

Rescue 2
I don't know much a about him - his wife just became a client.

She is a remarkable woman as is their 8 year old son

oh my god rescue 2 is Brooklyn and they lost many men on 9/11. As a kid my dad would take me on the fire truck as my mom died when I was young. He worked in the 38th battalion and i once got to ride on rescue 2 as well as ambulance 2 which was also in the same house as 280/132. I am sure my brothers would know him( Peter would being in Brooklyn) and my cousin is also in Brooklyn so there are 3 firemen with my last name.

I'll remember it for exactly what is was. A cowardice act on our way of life. I will remember all of the people that perished in that horrific event. The families of the people and esp the rescue workers who selflessly gave to help others.

www.fdnyrescue2.com, nice website has a few pictures of Lake.

Velvett, how is his family doing? I hate when a small child loses their father, that shit tugs on my heart real bad.

Thanks for the link.

Mrs. Lake moved out East from Brooklyn to give her son a different life. I liked how she phrased it - "a different life" vs "a better life" - I am in awe of this woman and you can't help but fall in love with her son.

They seem to be doing well considering but without invading her privacy - her battles have just begun. That's all I can really say without giving it away and that it is really horrifying to me how greedy and heartless blood relatives can be.

I will remember sep11 2001 as a very special day... the 50th anniversary of the day ground was broken for the construction of the pentagon.

No one cares to comment on the coincidence?

I remember 911 by flying the US flag & the Marine Corps flag in front of my house. I've always had the US flag out front, but added the Marine Corps flag after 911. I will always remember the victims of 911 and the service men/women fighting overseas.

I will probably remember 9/11 by remembering how I felt 9/12
We had a Bomb Threat and as I ran out and saw the looks on people's faces, I truly thought I was going to die...
