Yes you can use the under the tounge method. Not as effective. A makes a good kit and the price is very resonable I sugest useing it. Now If your going to do it your self haveing said this then this is the proper proceedure as I understand it. I Just got my kits from a so that should tell you that is the method I use. But here ya go
This is what you will need:
1. One (1) 30ml Sterile Empty Vial.
2. One (1) 30ml Glass bottle containing 5.0mlof USP grade Benzyl Alcohol (hereafter known as "solvent"). 3. One (1) 30ml Glass bottle containing containing 25ml of USP grade Oil (hereafter known as "oil")
4. One (1) Millipore, Millex-SV syringe filter.
5. Two sterile needles - note attach one to the 10ml syringe which will give you #6.
6. One (1) 10ml syringe
Instructions for making ~80mg/ml Solution
A} Add 2 grams (2,000mg) of your favorite "organic material" to the bottle containing 5.0ml of solvent. (Note, if your "organic material" is in the form of pellets or beads, there is no need to crush them up before you put them into the jar). You can either recap the jar and let it sit overnight in order to let "organic material" dissolve or you can gently swirl/agitate the recapped jar until the "organic material" dissolves fully or you can put the recapped jar into boiling water to facilitate the dissolution of the "organic material". DO NOT PLACE JAR INTO OR NEAR AN OPEN FLAME. Do not proceed until "organic material" is fully dissolved into solution.
B} Carefully pour remaining oil from bottle containing such into bottle containing solvent and dissolved "organic material". Do not pour in all the oil, leave a small amount (estimate 2-3 ml) in the original bottle that has the oil. You will use this to purge the filter later.
C} Recap the vial and shake vigorously for 5-10 minutes. Allow recapped jar to stand undisturbed for at least one (1) full hour. It would be best to let it set overnight.
If you look into the jar you should now see a large fairly translucent layer of oil ("solution") with a small layer cakey residue on the bottom of the jar.
D} Using the syringe and attached needle, draw up ~10ml of the oil/solvent/ organic material" solution being careful not to disturb cakey crud at bottom of the vial..
E} Turn this syringe upside down.
F} Recap needle and remove the needle from the syringe.
G} Open the sterile filter package, but leave the filter in the plastic.
H} Holding the filter through the plastic, screw the sterile syringe filter onto the syringe.
I} Remove the flip cap from the sterile empty vial and place the needle back onto the syring/filter apparatus. Take the second sterile needle and push that into the stopper of the sterile empty vial to relieve pressure while filtering. DO NOT LET YOUR FINGERS TOUCH THE SEPTUM.
J} Place the syringe/filter/needle combo immediately through the septum (gray rubber) into the sterile vial. Slowly push the 10ml of solution in the syringe through the filter and needle and into the sterile vial. Push all the contents of the syringe into the vial by grasping the syringe with two hands. Using your index fingers or thumbs push down on the plunger while continuing to hold onto the syringe with two hands. DO NOT EXERT EXTREME PRESSURE DOWNWARD ONTO THE SYRINGE FILTER! If you move the wrong way the vial will go shooting across the table and if you exert too much pressure, the filter may split. Take your time filtering - it pays to go slow. Also, if you push too hard the flow through the syringe filter will slow anyhow. It should take no more than 180-240 seconds seconds to run all the contents (10ml) of the syringe through the filter. You may have to filter the solution "a drop at time". After you have filtered the 10ml of solution into the formerly empty vial, remove the needle/filter set up from the syringe, carefully disattach the filter and place back in it's plastic wrapper and re-attach theneedle. Draw up as much clear solution as you can from the jar (you should easily get 10ml+) and go back to step E and repeat these instructions.
O.K. When all filtering is complete, there is still some valuable solution in that filter. Go back to step E but use the 2-3ml of oil you left behind in the original oil bottle.
FINAL PRODUCT IS ~80mg/ml of "organic material" in ~20-22ml of oil
After setting for a couple days or a week, you may notice some separation or what looks like a bubble on the bottom. Shake vial vigorously and that separation should disappear for good.
If your filter seems to clog (if you follow the directions it will not), you can "unclog" a filter by attaching it (along with a needle) to another syringe not the one your using with your solution in it obviously) drawing up a little of the leftover oil in the bottle.
Okay, you now have your finished product. Go shoot up some cattle-Yeehaaaa
