How to keep a grappler off of you?

Asking how to keep a grappler off you is like asking how to not get knocked out by a striker. Its going to happen either way, the only way to sort of prevent it/delay it is to train with grapplers to understand their shit.

yah I'm workin on that
I think I'm starting to prefer not keeping them off of me tho
the closer they are the easier it is to beat on them
unless they are actually hugging me

I was told that 70% of fights end up on the ground. I would suggest gaining more power if this is a problem for you meaning you are not wanting to goto the ground. However you can always learn mixed arts such as jiu jitsu for its submissions. If striking is a weakness, then correct it by training speed. Boxing is profound for this, as its use of hand eye cordnation helps to allow you to connect the target. A-B points. Think in terms of jabs. Try not to get tangled with someone who is trying to hug you or block with you. Striking and overpowering I believe to be key and keeping someone at bay.

Youre right to an extent . Worked for Kimo in UFC5 , and he had no clue what he was doing other than he didnt want to go Down .

Some people laugh at this, but you can practice sprawling. Also when you are taken down, you got to focus on getting up asap. Don't get into their game, just worry about pushing them off you and getting back up.

Even if you hate grappling, you're still going to have to do it to work on escaping. And you got to get comfortable getting up from the turtle posistion. Some guys get really nervous giving up their back. But a few simple things make it a bit easier.

Like keep your ching tucked in, focus on breaking their grip and locks at their hands and fingers. And don't listen to some dumbshit that might say breaking a lock by pulling fingers is finger manipulation, it isn't. Finger manipulation is trying to break their fingers.

Personally I hate grappling, I hate rolling, I hate it lol. But I am decent at it, and actually got a win off a kimura in my last fight. Striking is my best and favorite skill.

But you can't be stupid, sometimes subs are handed to you on a golden platter, and you got to be versed well enough to take advantage when they are their. If you just stay too much one dimensional, you are going to miss out on some wins.

I'd rather be a great submission guy actually I just don't have the talent for it
strikes are how I can win consistently
but I'll still work on grappling maybe after awhile I'll be good at it

That is the best attitude to take I think. Some guy pointed this out at my gym. Sure you can do MMA for a while and do great as a striker. But evetually you will have to stop either do to age or injuries. But grappling you can compete at a lot longer.

This is the route I am going to go. Eveutally when I stop doing MMA, I will contiue competing at submission/bjj events.

I mean I like the idea of having some awsome sub manuver
but really Im probubly goign to win by closing the distance and hooking somebody in the head
