How strong Do I have to be for D-1 Football

Do you consider 4.5 as an elite speed and something that is impossible to reach? I dont know why you keep bringing 4.3 in the discussion because the only thing i said is he could get down to 4.5 with hard work and that isnt something way out of reach. Also if you check most of the guys that ran the 40 in 4.3 they worked hard to get to that point and they probably started with a 4.4.

Also you didnt answer the powerlifter vs sprinters questions. Try to answer this: Why do the elite sprinters follow a training routine if the elite speed is genetic and like you said it doesnt require that much technique. Do you think they go to the olympics unprepared and simply run with their natural talent?

Bolt wasn't the fastest runner since day 1 by the way. I think reading his biography will enlighten you. At 20 years old he ran the 200m in 19.88 seconds. At 23 years old he ran it in 19.19 seconds. How did he manage to cut down .69 of his time? Did he sit on his couch and said : ''Oh i'm an elite runner already. I dont need to practice and i'll beat my personnal record at the olympics.''

As for his 100m race. His first personnal best time was 10.03 . Now his personnal best dropped to 9.58 . Please explain to me how he did that since you seem to know so much and tell me that training for speed and technique has nothing to do with it. His elite genetics didnt simply improve from 20 to 23 years old.

Its true that he had elite genetics but he wasn't the fastest since day 1 and he worked hard to earn his spot. At the time the best runners were Asafa Powell and Tyson Gay and they used to beat Bolt all the time. Now its different. What changed?

legit 4.5 is ridiculously fast. thats aj hawk speed coming at ya. so yea, 4.5 is very, very fast. stop using the fastest people in the world as your example. its ridiculous. you cant use average people as examples because you have none. i get a sense from you that all the times you are talking about are hand held. so if someone tells me they tested 4.6 handheld, thats more than likely 4.75 or 4.8 in reality.

since your handle is nbafan, i have a 6'8" power forward and a 6'0" power forward. the six footer trains the hardest and practices the most but the 6'8" guy is just better. why? cause hes 8 inches taller and i cant teach the hard worker how to get 8 inches taller. that is speed. its the same thing.

why did bolt get faster? because he matured into his body and his true potential was realized. not because some coaches made him spread his fingers and keep his 45 degree angle. and seriously stop using world class athletes as your examples. you go from trying to use a strength coach as your crutch to olympic athletes. know any high school or college guys who have proven numbers? i do. and i didnt see anyone walk on water like you claim happens twice a day and three times on runner wednesday.

Describe your training. Your upper body being that unproportional compared to your lower body makes me think you do 10 set reps with way too much upper body work.

Wait a second...You can't compare speed with height because you can learn to be faster but you can't learn to be taller. 2 different things. Speed, Jumping, sports skills can all be improved with workout up to a certain level. Don't make it sound like its impossible.

And you ask me why i keep giving you professionnal athletes as examples? Well thats because they are well known...i could give you a track and field athlete that goes to my university but you wouldnt know him and you couldn't check if it was true. Im not saying he cut his time by .2 seconds but he still improved

You just proved my point further more when you said: ''because he matured into his body and his true potential was realized''. Gladiator didn't realize his potential yet. And a beginner always have more potential than an experienced athlete. It would be way easier for him to cut off .2 seconds than it was for Bolt to cut .47 off his elite time.

Oh and Bolt reached his potential by working on speed training and not simply by maturing while sitting at home. He would never be as fast as he is now without working for it. Sure he has elite genes but so do other professionnal runners. Good training will make the difference between them. Here is 2 quotes for you:

''The year 2005 signalled a fresh start for Bolt in the form of a new coach, Glen Mills, and a new attitude to athletics. Mills recognised Bolt's potential and aimed to cease the sprinter's unprofessional approach to the sport.[30] Bolt began training with Mills in preparation for the upcoming athletics season, partnering with more-seasoned sprinters such as Kim Collins and Dwain Chambers.[32] The year began well, and in July he knocked more than a third of a second off the 200 m CAC Championship record with a run of 20.03 s,[33] then registered his 200 m season's best at London's Crystal Palace, running in 19.99 s''

''Bolt was involved in a car accident in November, and although he suffered only minor facial lacerations, his training schedule was further upset.[37][38] His manager, Norman Peart, made Bolt's training less intensive, and he had fully recuperated the following week.[37] Bolt had continued to improve his performances, and he reached the world top-5 rankings in 2005 and 2006''

No matter how hard you try you can't deny the importance and benefits of speed training for professionnal athletes.

Ive just been a bench king since day 1, have only been doing squat and deads for 6-9 months. Ive been doing a 5x5 lately and love it.

thanks for the responses guys, Idk but i think I could get down to 4.5

you cant train speed or height. 2 rules everyone knows. i stopped reading there. you just dont get it. i will not be responding to this anymore. believe what you will. any hand held 40 is not to be counted but i have a feeling thats what you go by and thats why you believe in these gigantic jumps in improvement. comparing a normal individual which glad is to bolt is so ridiculous, its amazing. i would advise getting timed electrically if you really feel you have speed. that should bring everything into perspective for you. a 5.0 finger pad = 4.7. see if you run that electrically. no human error there.

Im pretty sure you read the rest of my post but just couldnt deny the facts i presented. But anyways it is well harder for a professionnal athlete to beat his time than it is for a beginner so i dont see anything ridiculous here. And Bolt did beat his time by more than .2 so your rule is incorrect.

Beginner's can make huge gains...bottom line. I think with some hard training he could het a 4.5. Up to a certain point gains are easier. After that point they get very hard. But I don't think he's to that point yet.

A lot of speed is technique. Generally, if you were outdoors 8 hours a day as a kid then you will naturally have a nearly perfect running style. If you were more of a Sega Genesis kid then chances are you have flaws. Kelley Baggett has written a lot about running technique. Perfecting it can cut a large portion off of your time.
