I understand its not just about strength, but im just talking about those. Like what are some numbers they look for that either tells them hes strong or theres no way?

For a D1 safety. I will be walking on to UNR (Nevada Wolfpack) in a year and half.

5'9", 195lbs, 10%BF
Bench - 330
Squat - 340
Deadlift - 375
Hang Cleans - 225 couple times
40yd dash - 4.74 :(

haha i was actually curious myself and looked it up on google.. Saw your yahoo answers question too :)

I don't think that there is any "set strength"... It's more about skill and how you use your strength.

This isn't too relavent but Kevin Durrant (quite a good NBA player, real early draft pick) could only bench 145 lbs.

Anyways, i hope you make it dude!!! It would be awesome to see someone from here in a game lol-

EDIT: maybe check this out for some inspiration;

Strength is good, but you have to be fast. Make sure you can move all your muscle.

Skill > Strength

Do you have any experience playing ball?

+1

In high school ball, there were a lot of guys much stronger then me, but I beat them out because I played better. I was a sophmore playing varsity at a Division 1 school, beating out juniors and seniors who were much stronger then me at the nose position.

glad, you appear to be too...delicate...to get hit. :whatever:

For a D 1 safety, you're stronger than you'll EVER need to be with those numbers. What will kill you at a D 1 level at safety is that 40-time, it might even be the deal breaker. You may want to consider dropping 10-15lbs and specific work to get that 40 time down.

But, seriously, you'll hear about a freak in the weightroom here and there, but with those numbers in your gym lifts, I think you'll be stronger than most safeties on any college team, however, with that 40 time, you'll be slower than all the linebackers.

That is what my main goal by a year and a half is. To have at least a 4.6 flat 40 yard dash. but I wanted to get my squat, bench, deadlift numbers up high enough so when i do drop weight/strength ill still be a monster.

i do have good football speed, but track speed im bad at. probably because i never run lol

Its not even much about how much weight you can put up in the weight room man. A guy from my high school couldnt bench 200 and went on to play D2 ball just because he was fast, crazy, and could hit.

I know i understand, I am a good player. Actually i always played corner but now im almost 200lbs i think id be more of a safety.

Im just talking about strength alone, like what are good numbers for D1. Assuming i had speed, vert, skill
