How often do you work to failure?

Recently I started working to near failure on some exercises mostly cause I am a stubborn as hell keep trying to increase the weight on my lifts. Which I was successful in today 20lbs on to my dead lift! I RULE!!
Anyways what about the rest of you do you work to failure?

Properly stimulate, not annihilate, going to failure on a consistent basis takes a toll on your joints and your nerves.

what sort of failure? eccentric failure?

i superset a lot and will go to concentric failure very frequently, static failure sometimes, but going full bore eccentric failure usually precipitates tendonitis and 'bad pain'. besides, i get good results already and im not going to overdo it

This girl is right, what kind of failure are we speaking of here?

I have no idea which it would be but basically I mean there is no way in hell you could do another rep.

I do everything to failure....

Hell I even masturbate to failure...not sure if it's concentric, static, or eccentric though...

I like your intensity. LOL

I usually go to concentric failure on all my exercises with the exception of lower back and abs.

I rarely train to failure. Like Wodin I get close but only go to failure when maxing or competing. That way I know there is no way I could do anymore weight.

Cheers,
Scotsman

I dont even train hard. Why would I want to? It hurts. I just hang out.............If I do decide to train hard on a particular day I just go to failure on the last set of each excersize I do. But I do alot of super sets to. Im past trying to outlift everyone and concentrate on form and feeling the muscle work.

I don't train to failure, only during comp do I go that far, no need since most of my lifts are compounds or olympic lifts

Congrats on the deadlift PR!! I almost always train to complete failure, damn near failure, or beyond failure with forced reps. I havent been going beyond failure much lately with the forced reps, but have been cheating out the extras to get them in. Im also incorporating a little 5X5 in my flat bench and incline routines so most of those sets arent to failure. But those 5 sets are so small in comparison to the rest of my routine anyway. My whole routines are usually to complete failure. Im always pretty torn up after most of my workouts. Id only be able to go rediculously light afterwards. Hope that helps!

concentric failure = cant do another rep
static failure = cant hold it steady
eccentric failure = arms are spaghetti, cant even hold it
i never go to being unable to move and stuff (unless its from being sore the next day) but i almost always bash the fuck out of my muscles so that i couldnt do another set i think thats how to describe what i go to

Thanks Beast at the rate I am going I think I will be able to meet your PR in oh about 20 years. ;) LOL BTW do have any diagrams of the Beast dead lift? Or pics perhaps? I wouldn't mind seeing it.

rarely, never on 5x5 (or 3x5 or whatever else im doing at that particular time), i like doing it on arm day using supersets though. on deads i go close to failure (feels that way anyway) quite frequently.

No problem at all!! ThanX for the encouragement also!! Youll get there sooner then you think!! Depends on your goals too though. Deadlifting hasnt seemed to help my BB efforts much at all, but has brought my strength up in multiple lifts it seems. If anything its thickened my waist and got me stronger on deadlifts! haha I was already at a plateau in size when I started the deads though. I have a good amount of pictures of the beast lifts, but none really capturing the mid lift point. Basically just beginning and end of the lift. Since I basically made the lift up Im not sure how safe it is, and if its right for everyone's body structure. It can be an awkward motion. I like them alot because its similiar to a deadlift for me, but without the knees in the way. Just a straight pull. I dont squat the weight, it seems to be mostly lower back, with maybe a little leg drive, but its hard to tell without seeing video of the lift. My mind isnt exactly clear during a heavy lift either! Hope to get some video up eventually also. The pics dont show the actual lift. Heres a few pics:

Deadlifts have helped my BB efforts in so many ways my back has made rapid improvments since adding it. In addition to my booty becoming more umm shaplier too. ;)
Strength is important to me but most important is my over all look I need to keep telling my self that or I am going to hurt myself.
