How often are Europeans supposed to bathe? Do they really stink?

I mean, you hear that comment all the time, but just how true is it?

So you European folks- how often do you bathe? What's expected of you in your culture? In America, I think at least one shower a day is the norm. I can't stand body odor, not even my own. I'd rather contort myself into a pretzel and lodge my nose in my buttcrack than smell my own B.O. all day.

So what's the deal here?

Can't say I believe this to be true based on my experience.

I'm generally opposed to all forms of ethnic stereotyping and feel sorry for the mental midgets who need affirmation in this way.

Like it's not like we don't have enough stinky motherfuckers over here.

I have been around some, mainly French and German. They didn't quite grasp the idea of deodorant.

The French would just bathe in cologne.

The Germans used some sort of powder, but down here in SC during the summer, they need something a little stronger.

I guess that you can't say all of them smell, but some of them definitely need a little help.

So what's the deal? Why don't they take a good wiff and think to themselves, "Golly gee wiz, I sure do smell like a bucket full of assholes. I'm sure nobody else is enjoying my aroma either. Perhaps I should wash up a little and put on some deodorant."

Hygene in general is lost on the Europeans.

I dated a girl from Amsterdam for a while. She bathed a few times a week, never wore deoderant, brushed her teeth maybe once a day.

I confronted her about it and she said "You Americans are so caught up on yourselves. Don't bother with your body for one day and do something fun."

We broke up a few days later.

Its Indians, pakistani's, ME, and chinese people that generally stink(No flames please. This is based from MY OWN experience)

I think this is moslty related to the food they eat.(Seriously)

Never had a problem with WESTERN europeans.

I think you're right about it being the food.

I went to India for a month and when I got back I smelled for weeks.

It took a while to get all the curry out of my system.
