How much substance abuse is actually.......

I think that even if it starts out just the drugs, it doesnt take too long before it's the mind..... And it's sad, and I dont want to think that way, but after a while, your brain is not only damaged, but irreversibly rewired.... I think people can take great steps to recover, etc but they are never fully over it.

interesting. I've been off drugs, coke and opiates, for a few years and successfully managing biolar disorder. Yet i still feel mental cloudiness, slow comprehension. It takes more effort to do well in school than it used to. I wonder if its from the illicit drug use or the psych medication i take? My guess is a combination of both.

Glad to hear your doing okay. I think your guess is a solid one.

It really depends on the persons past and situation
alot of different scenarios to stereotype

I do know that when my parent hauled my ass to a rehab back in April (99% heroin addicts in there) the people in there were talking how many empty beds there were.
Why I asked? They said it was because it was the begining of the month. When alot of these low life scum bag drug users are using OUR tax money to pay for their habit.
Then after that moneys gone they go to a methadone clinic or rehab if they have no place to go. That is also covered by MassHealth (the best insurance) for FREE! YAY!

It's a revolving system going nowhere

My reason for pondering #2 is that many really hard drugs cause psychosis of their own in anybody, but for some individuals who are "prone" to psychosis, it turns on the switch and they suffer from psychotic episodes later on with not substances involved.

The trouble is, psychiatric patients are often poor historians, non-compliant with meds, etc.

And in the end, it doesnt really matter in terms of Tx. You gotta get them off anything that might promote psychosis, and get them on something to suppress it, in addition to therapy etc per individual need.

I've known people that seriously abused extacy and became pretty unbalanced afterwards. Same as meth, although I only know two people that ever touched it. Both have gone batshit crazy.

Not much Meth up here in Boston

I'm a curious son of bean

It seems it's more popular in the west. I did a line of it once when I thought I was going to do blow. It burned so bad my eyes watered for 15 minutes. I felt so bad on it and the feeling wouldn't go away. I felt like I was stuck in an anxiety nightmare for 10 hours.

nasty drug

my sis was takin that drug for a long time with some loser boyfriend

it would last forever she would sit up all night playing upwords.
