How much protein intake?

hey bros,
i been working for over 2 years and always thought that 1.5 grm per KG is enough protein for development. but jus reading max-OT program and its says that 220 to 280 grams of protein for my body weight( i.e 88 KG) is required to develop. Plz help

currently i am taking 240 grms of protein( 150 thru protein shakes and other thru food) although its working but i am blowing up my budget
 
too much protein from shakes imo, eat more real food

minimum 1.5 grams of protein per pound of body weight not kilo
 
Curiously, I've always wondered when someone says "1.5 grams per pound" or whatever magical number they use----is this lean bodyweight or your actual weight?
 
I weigh right at 200 and I usually take in about 100 grams a day in shakes and about 100 grams in food...it's about all I can handle along with all the water and other supplelements I take.

I've seen people mean it both ways. I just use per pound of bodyweight, because I know I'm getting enough.

I'm 220, and I routinely consume 450-500 grams of protein a day.
