I have always been very lean mainly due to genetics but it is absolutely possible to change body comp dramatically - i know several peeps who have gone from 19% b/f down to a crazy 8% b/f

Hard work and dedication is what it is all about

strictly via diet and cardio or anabolics/gh involved????

Man, where to start?!?!?

I was a world class swimmer at the age of 18, and had about 9% at the time, which is a bit low for swimmers at that level. I weighed about 160lb at 5' 9" then. Had a falling out with my coach, and just got fed up with the same shit day in and day out. So, I quit and decided to compete in triathlons. Got down to 153 lb., at about 6-7% BF, and competed in several Ironman and half-Ironman competetions. Did this until I was 22 y/o, at which time I was hit by a drink driver while out on my bike doing a training ride. Spent about 4 weeks in Baltimore Shock Trauma for my troubles, that sucked! For the next two years, I did basically no exercise and really blew the hell up. I mean seriously FAT at 230 lb., and probably around 22% BF.

At 24, I started to get into martial arts, and after a while, decided to see if I could do well at amateur kickboxing. Got all the way back down to 150 lb., and about 6% BF. Would cut down to 147 lb. for matches. Did that until I was 30, and had surgery on my left elbow.

Started lifting hardcore at 30, and bulked up to about 185 lb. naturally with 9.5% BF (hydrostatic test) by the time I was 33 y/o. Then last November at work, I was seriously injured, and required surgery on my right hip and left hand. Started training again in March, but I was up to 218 lb. at 18% BF! Now I am at 210 lb., and 14% BF. I will go back to 10% or under by the end of the summer, with a bodyweight around 185 - 190 lb.! Once I hit 10%, I will start my first cycle.

Just a note here. I am not genetically predisposed for low body fat. Everyone in my family, with the exception of my younger brother, is seriously obese. I have had to have damn near a perfect diet, fairly low carbs, and tons of cardio to see any sort of positive impact on my physique. Which really sucks right now, as I am on a consulting trip in Germany, where the beer, würst, bread and chocolate are oh so good! Having to pass on most of those things has really pissed me off! But, i do have a goal.....

Ziggy,
Hats off to you my friend. After reading your reply, I am so inspired to get up and try try again.

I was about 28% bf at 230 when I started working out seriously again. I was 24 y/o. Over about a year and a half I dropped down to 177 and 5%. That was all diet. NO CARDIO or AAS. Its easy. If you want to do it you can. It takes knowledge and discipline. I took in less than 25grms of sugar a day. I avoided white flour and starch. No soda of any kind either. That was it.
If you want to do it... do it! Thats all it takes!
BTW... I started taking in shakes after I hit 177. Talk about a rebound effect. I was putting on 10lbs of muscle every 6 months for a year and a half after that. I got stuck at 207 at 6%. Thats when I started with AAS. Small amounts. I still don't go crazy today and I still grow.

I'm 5'6": I was overweight all my life, at age 21 I was 233 with about 30% bodyfat. I worked out, but I ould never follow a diet, and failed so many times. I started to serious cardio (6 days a week) and stuck to my diet, I lost nearly 80 lbs. in 6 months. It was not all fat, I lost muscle too. But, I had/have veins that are unreal and abs, my bodyfat ranges from 5% to 12% depending on how I want to look. Of course having my heart broken by my g/f at the time really motivated me.

Sidenote, I ran into her while my woman and I were shopping at IKEA, she didn't recognize me. :supercool
