Man, where to start?!?!?
I was a world class swimmer at the age of 18, and had about 9% at the time, which is a bit low for swimmers at that level. I weighed about 160lb at 5' 9" then. Had a falling out with my coach, and just got fed up with the same shit day in and day out. So, I quit and decided to compete in triathlons. Got down to 153 lb., at about 6-7% BF, and competed in several Ironman and half-Ironman competetions. Did this until I was 22 y/o, at which time I was hit by a drink driver while out on my bike doing a training ride. Spent about 4 weeks in Baltimore Shock Trauma for my troubles, that sucked! For the next two years, I did basically no exercise and really blew the hell up. I mean seriously FAT at 230 lb., and probably around 22% BF.
At 24, I started to get into martial arts, and after a while, decided to see if I could do well at amateur kickboxing. Got all the way back down to 150 lb., and about 6% BF. Would cut down to 147 lb. for matches. Did that until I was 30, and had surgery on my left elbow.
Started lifting hardcore at 30, and bulked up to about 185 lb. naturally with 9.5% BF (hydrostatic test) by the time I was 33 y/o. Then last November at work, I was seriously injured, and required surgery on my right hip and left hand. Started training again in March, but I was up to 218 lb. at 18% BF! Now I am at 210 lb., and 14% BF. I will go back to 10% or under by the end of the summer, with a bodyweight around 185 - 190 lb.! Once I hit 10%, I will start my first cycle.
Just a note here. I am not genetically predisposed for low body fat. Everyone in my family, with the exception of my younger brother, is seriously obese. I have had to have damn near a perfect diet, fairly low carbs, and tons of cardio to see any sort of positive impact on my physique. Which really sucks right now, as I am on a consulting trip in Germany, where the beer, würst, bread and chocolate are oh so good! Having to pass on most of those things has really pissed me off! But, i do have a goal.....
