We now have an HPV vaccine. :)

According to the CDC, one in four females over the age of twelve have genital herpes and one in five men. You better know your partner before you go bareback and even a condom only makes sex safer, it isn't "safe sex."

They aren't even sure that the vaccine works. It is new - and it may not work against certain strains of the virus.
I'm going to get it, but I only have a few months - they only give it to girls 26 and younger.
And some parents may chose not to give it to their daughters.
This vaccine will not eliminate HPV for decades to come - if it ever does.

Well, it is FDA approved so the basic science is there. They only offer it to people under 26? A friend of mine is considering it, she tested negative for the HPV, and she's in her 40's. We eliminated polio and small pox, for the most part, so I'm hopeful. Most people don't realize oral herpes can be transmitted and become genital herpes during an outbreak when there is genital contact.

Basically, something like 80% of sexually active people have HPV.
But most people show no signs and it doesn't even show up for women on pap smears unless a girl already has abnormal cells. I asked my doctor if they would test me even though I didn't have abnormal cells and she said the couldn't do that. The blood test isn't 100% accurate. So many people don't know what they have. Grossness.

When you are 32, haven't had a steady in 6 years and get it as seldom as I do you don't tend to worry about the above mentioned things.

Interesting the poll is mostly "no i dont wear a condom". There are too many people with diseases and AIDS out there to f'k around often with no condoms. :).....but the poll proves why AIDS is a problem..if you did a poll for the entire world it would be the same. i guess people dont care if they live or die as long as they have a good f'k.

Since the FDA approved the female condom for use in the US in 1994, there really is no excuse for hetero couples not using a condom. If I were a sexually active woman, I would have one of these female condoms with me 24/7. Since i bought it, brought it, and in this scenario, i would be putting in on/in and wearing it, I would have complete control over having protected sex.

It amazes me that more women do not keep these things on hand.

While on the subject is there any difference in sensation for either the man or the woman when using the female condom vs the traditional condom?

I thought the female condom wasn't as effective as a male condom.
The invention of the female condom won't change anything.
I don't know a single girl who keeps female condoms in her nightstand.
We all have a drawer full of male condoms.
They are easier and more effective.
And they still lead to complete control over having protected sex - here is a condom - wear it - no condom, no sex. Easy.

well unfortunatley for me I hade a 5yr realtionship in high school and got so used to not wearing condoms that when we split I was unable to enjoy or even perform in sex that did involve a condom. I went to UF and was VERY, VERY, permiscusios during my time there. None of the girls I was with ever with stopped me and I never stopped myself so most of my sexual life is condomless so to speak. I know its not PC these days but for me it was either that or nothing. And just for the record, it feels so goooooood raw.

It's an acquired taste. I pretty much never wear condoms, unless it happens to be a random club slut. Condoms are for gays and high school kids.
