How many calories are considered.........

too much for a meal? On or off, I'm trying to dial in my bulking diet and I'm afraid two of my meals have too many cals.....

Meal 1 = 500 cals

MEALS 2 = 3/4 CUP STEEL CUT RAW
1 CUP EGG WHITES
300G DRY CURD COTTAGE CHEESE, W/ A COUPLE STRAWBERRIES, 1/2 APPLE/ 1/2 BANANA = ABOUT 750CALS..............TOO MANY?

MEAL 3 - 600 CALS

MEAL 4 = 400 CALS

PW SHAKE = 300 CALS

MEAL 5 - 5-6 LARGE HANDFULLS PEANUTS, 32 OZ CASEIN,EGG SHAKE, 300G DRY CURD COTTAGE CHEESE - 700-800 CALS??? TOO MUCH?

stupid, sorry........meant to post it........6'2, 185, LEAN bulking so not to go about 11%, sitting around 10%........cardio first thing in the am, sedetary in office all day, training at 400pm..........
 
here's where you're having a problem..

the amount of cals isnt as important as WHERE those cals are coming from.
i can eat 500 cals per meal made of 125g carbs. but is that a meal that will benefit me? it wont as its not balanced with fats and proteins.

so would help if you broke down your meals as follows.. this is just an example:

MEAL 1:
40g protein 160 cals
50g carbs 200 cals
15g fats 135 cals
total cals:495

and on and on..
 
lets proceed..

youll have to calculate your BMR (basic metablic rate).

take your total weight and deduct from that your fat weight.
so if you weigh 200 pounds and 10%bf youll deduct that 10% of bf which equals 20 pounds from 200 and get LBM of 180.

from there, you can build a solid calorie/meal plan.

for bulking, most eat 20 times their LBM.
some eat more.

i weight 213, with about 12% bf so my LBM is 186.
my bulking cycles are usually at least 4k cals per day and thast about 21-22 times my LBM.
 
I need about 3,240............but is meal #2 too large? It really doesnt seem like that much when you look at it......surely you guys eat more than that in a meal.......

Meal 2 consisting of more calories would be better than meal 4....I try and make sure bulk of calories do amount up in the morning/early afternoon as opposed to late and before bed - for obvious reasons....staying lean

..and i find it works best for me
 
That happens to me sometimes bro. My appetite fluctuates during the day. As long as my overall calories are high enough, and I make sure to get at least 30g of protien with each meal, it doesn't seem to matter too much. Usually my 2nd meal ends up being between 700-1000 calories, and also my 4th meal. The rest are smaller, 4-500. This is when bulking though, as I tend to need a minimum of 4000cal/day to bulk.
 
meal 2 seems like a very slow digesting meal so i would not worry much

if it was 125g or plain sugar then thats too much of that nutrient in one meal but meal 2 for you is very balanced except it looks like it has no fat..but i would say that it is not too much.. also it is early in the day..

also the meals b4 and after you workout should have the most cals IMO regardless of bulking or cutting.

Satch is right. But how do you know how many cals you're taking in when you're eating "5-6 handfuls of nuts"? Handfuls?

Most all calories are carbs like Satch said.

Why not switch the oats and cottage cheese? Why are U worried about calories when you said your goal is to bulk?

6'2 185... You're a string bean :-) Eat everything U can
Why do some catabolic cardio first thing in da morn on an empty stomach if you're trying to bulk?
 
thanks bro..

see i got some people on my side about eating your face off and dropping some cardio :)

just start slow so its not a shock to your system.. mentally and/or physically..

also track your progress if you dont already and it will be easier to monitor and deal w/
