Please forget everything you ever learned about the food pyramid. That number you quoted, 0.36g/lb, is for SEDENTARY people. For survival and opimum health, couch potatoes must consume that amount.
You my friend, must learn about protein synthesis. When you work out, there are micro leasions and tears in your muscle that are created, to repair itself (thus increasing the amount of muscle fibre and size) you must consume a LOT of protein.
Terms such as thickness, bulkiness or whatever the hell, is atributed to the amount of muscle (or fat for that matter) inside you.
If you want to gain muscle mass, you must consume at least 20x your body weight (lbs) for your daily amount of calories. For example, a 100 lbs person must eat at least 2,000 calories daily to grow.
30% of those calories must come from protein, at 4 calories per gram, that's a lot of protein! so you see why its important to consume so much.
Now this is only scratching the surface of proper nutrition for gaining weight. Read all the threads here, there is lots of good info.
I can't believe no one else is chiming in to help you out. Normally this board is very helpfull.

I'm afraid I just don't have the time.
