Go for a long bike ride, shower, have a beer or three while I flirt online and boost my ego, spank myself to sleep and wake up feeling like the stud I am.

spending more time with things that do promote that positive thinking and happiness....for me...mini me.


working out like a freak helps during the time period too.

I do use the anger in the gym a lot. I deadlfit tonight should be good times. I feel great in the gym generaly feel like a superstar there. It is outside the gym my mind wanders and I feeel less then myself. I am generaly I pretty happy person as of late I have been having a problem getting to my happy go lucky self.

I'll send you a list of supplements later tonite when I have time - everything that we talk of as emotion/mood/feeling can be modulated with herbs/amino acids etc. gets you to the same place as anti-depressants, stimulents etc except naturally.

I allow myself a set period of time to sulk and when I get sick of myself I try and look at what is really bothering me and not what I think it might be - usually what you think has hurt your ego really is something else and you just need to find a way to fix that part of yourself or life that you feel is preventing your happiness in the big picture and not that specific situation.


After that period is over I take a long hot shower and do something that I enjoy doing and try find some inspiration from that activity and write myself a list of to do's that when completed will ultimately make me feel better about myself just be completing them.

I am going to give this suggestion a try. Having recently come out of a clinical depression I am struggling to find a way to focus as the circumstances that drove me to it are still intact. I have a lot to live for and my husband is very supportive but I am having trouble finding focus.

Sense of accomplishment - it's pretty powerful.

I've kinda bumming myself and while I know logically what I need to do I'm not stepping up to the plate so to speak - so even at your worst you just need to do something anything even if it's unrelated to keep moving forward.

agitation and stress + they make me go crazy too.

I recently stopped and incidently got really lazy on taking all my supps and guess what - I feel like utter hell and frankly I'm not the great joy to be around lately.

Same same same. It's amazing at the difference it takes on your body when you slack off for a bit. I can tell such a huge difference when I don't take my amino acids and multi vits for a week or so.

Agreed. There are some interesting projects that my hubby and I are working on. I do so hope that they will come to fruition. Wont be anything Nobel Prize winning, but it will be an interesting venture nonetheless.

PS - if it werent for the gym, no joke, I would have taken my life a long time ago. It doesnt seem like anything earth-shattering but it has been THE ONE constant in my life - something healthy and good-for-me to keep me from falling down into a negative downword spiral that I would not have been able to crawl out of otherwise.

I think what Mavafanculo was saying is that whey improves one's mood a lot more than other protein sources such as eggs.
 
I hang out with friends and do activities that I know I'll enjoy, like playing pork swords.
 
i use what i know about myself, and the human animal in general, to better my emotional health. this includes:

not beating the shit out of myself with thoughts like "i should have known better" "its my fault" "im a loser" "my looking goodness factor is low as hell" etc. its life, shit happens that i may or may not have been able to foresee/influence/control, but one way or the other, its done now, so im going to deal with it, get better, and do my best not to be such a schmuck next time

then, i cut all the negative crap out of my life. you know the people that drag you down, need endless counselling, have shitty outlooks etc? i just dont call them, or take calls. if i havnt got enough emotional energy to get myself out of this hole, i sure as hell cant spare any for those twits - especially since sliding into a pit of despair isnt going to help any of us, anyway. so they get the flick until im better.

then i surround myself with positive people/situations, even if theyre superficial. i go to parties with a bunch of brainless buffoons that i cant stand in large doses, but are great fun in small ones. go dance. go drink. get laid. get OFF. the point of doing all this crap isnt to make everything alright, its just to inject a bit of fun diversion into your life until some of the emotional anchors that your former beau ripped out heal over, blur, and you drift back towards your core personality

getting out of an emotional hole is a process. it takes time. correcting the "happy balance" of chemicals in your brain doesnt happen overnight, and so the twits who tell you to "snap out of it" not only dont know what the hell therye talking about from a biochemical/psychotherapeutic point of view, but in their ignorance, are actually bringing you down because their command undermines you and makes you feel like a bigger loser, which just doesnt help

oh and of course, throw yourself into your training, since the last thing you want is to emerge from a depressive state with a crap body, since that just makes you sad all on its own. i know you, d, and youre vain. very vain. yorue so vain, i bet you think this post is about you, dont you ;)

cliff notes:
1- get laid
2- look at pictures of golden
3- dont feel bad that golden has more looking goodness than you
4- send pictures of golden back to golden, to brighten his day also

oh and seriously, stay away from the weed, anaesthesizing yourself isnt what you want to be doing. you need to deal with this phase of your life with a clear mind, not through a haze of bong smoke

QT, what I did when I was an emotional mess was read....and read a lot! I got into books on Buddhism, self help etc. I found that spiritually growing helped me get over the dark moments.
Working out, keeping busy and all that was great, but I needed to calm my soul, and I did it with some very good books.
Hang in there, life after a shitty man does get better

Thanks sweetie :friends: yeah yoga has been really good for me right now. I am not a big spirtual type person. I do the yoga to relax me clear my mind and really be in the moment. I do have some books at home that need reading. :)

Go work for meals on wheels or some other charity. Realizing how much you have and helping others who don't is usually the best cure.

Especially this time of year.
