How do you stay motivated?

Hey everyone! I'm having a hard time keeping myself motivated. Just this year alone I've moved 3 (maybe 4, I've lost track  ) times this year, and switched careers 2 times. I know they're just excuses, but they make it harder for me to stick to it. I remember in college working out consistently was cake, but now things seem to happen so haphazardly that it just throws me off track. Anyways, I'm just wondering what everyone does for motivation, because I'm ready to get back int he swing of things. :)

I have pics of bodies that I want up on my cork board in my weight room and on my mirror in my bedroom. When I train, if I feel weak and want to make excuses, I look at the pictures. If I'm doing my cardio (elliptical in the bedroom) and I don't feel like sticking it out, I look at the pictures. It works for me.

Oh....and I also come here - of course!!:)

I have a picture of Monica Brandt up on my wall and in my training book...also I go here for inspiration and always try and find someone near or far to talk about lifting...it gets me excited..Also, I make goals both short and long term. I have a goal to compete in May and I try to keep pushing myself knowing I want to look my best. I have a huge long term goal..but I keep saying if I keep lifting and eating the way I am I will eventually get there:) Hope this helps! Happy Lifting :)

Thanks for your suggestions, everyone! I have pictures up all over my home gym, and that does help while I'm in there, but it's getting in there and working out that's the problem. :eyeroll:

Nikkita, thanks for the link! I'll have to check it often. :)

I tell myself..ok...after I eat that brownie its gone and over! And was it worth it? NO!
Or...okay..im human, I made a mistake and Im moving on.
Make a deadline for yourself to get fit. A short term goal to start out. Maybe 8 weeks to drop a certin amount of b/f or gain a certain amount of muscle. Then if you feel like....oh damn I cant make it..say to yourself...screw that I have no choice but to make it.
Good luck honey!

Oh I don't know about that 1 :lmao:

Brownies are pretty damn worth it :p Not everyday of course but occasionly, they are my favorite by the way. lol

What motivates me? Hmm honestly I do. I set a goal for myself and don't give up until I get there. Right now my goal is to put on muscle, and am excited every training day, cause I want to see how much more weight I can lift. My weights keep going up, and it's pretty damn cool to see the dudes faces in the gym, when they see me reaching for the 25lb DB to bicep curl. Or when the guy (the only 1 I talk to in the gym) says you should hear how impressed the guys in here are with you, your so tiny and you're not afraid of the weight, and your form is always perfect.

I'm not a pink db kinda girl, gimme that hard grey plate babyyy!!! ;)

:velvett:

Working out is my outlet for stress. It's me time. When I don't have to worry about bills, the house, the kids,my husband or my biz. I only need to worry about me and I look forward to that.

Plus all the ladies here keep me motivated. I see all of ya'll progress and it lets me know that I can do this.

Hey...I had another thought...reading Oxygen magazines and others like Flex and Musclemag really keeps me motivated :) They have some really interesting ideas on lifting and recipies...( actually its kinda like this board just with pictures)

Happy lifting everyone! :)

The external motivztions are good - such as pictures, quotes, etc. But eventually, it has to come from WITHIN YOU. YOU have to want it, YOU have to make the daily choice and sacrifice, YOU have to have the drive.

No picture can make you reach your goals. YOU have to make a daily reaffirmation that you are going to do it - come hell or high water. No picture can make plain chicken taste like a dream. YOU have to make the choice and stick with it.

Eventually, it comes doen to mind over matter - and you have to want it.

So true. At first it was more of me wanting to lose some weight and tone up. It went from there to me wanting to be overall healthier. Then it went to me wanting to lose bf and gain some muscle. Now it's me wanting to lose bf,stay healthy, gain muscle and oh I love the feeling of how my biceps feel now. when they were soft to the touch when not flexing now they are hard and that's a wonderful addicting feeling. ;)

reading this thread is giving me motivation!

I've tried setting goals, but I'm absolutely horrible with them... mainly because I don't know the amount of time it should take to achieve them. I'm going to buy a new journal today. Sunday will be a start to a brand new week and I'm just going to ignore my doubts and go for it. I'm excited now! :)
